The reason pyro didn’t work in primordial sea is because the ability only summons weather; the fire immunity is from the weather and not the ability so mold breaker, turboblaze, and teravolt don’t do anything to it; same with all the other weather abilities

@@pikminman13 They were never in the same generation together, which means it depends entirely on Showdown to guess. Utility Umbrella keeps you out of sun/rain when you're the *target*, so Growth is just Work Up but also the enemy has a 30% miss chance on Hurricane even in rain. You'd probably have to trick it to the enemy to get a fire move to work in Primordial Sea heavy rain.

@@alanfournumbers to be fair, primordial sea and desolate land work differently than normal weather, if you suppress the ability (gastro acid, neutralizing gas, etc) the weather stops. technically speaking there is no "weather" other than the fact that it overrides regular weathers and cloud nine affects it (which you would never see because who uses golduck).

Mold breaker, turboblaze etc. doesn’t cancel out heavy rain because it’s a field condition set by an ability, not an ability itself. Air lock and cloud nine are the only abilities that cancel weather. Otherwise mega gyarados would be everywhere in ORAS/SM to check primal groudon.

Zap is immune to fire moves even with the bursting aura bc where as bursting aura would negate an immunity directly coming from an ability (like flash fire), zaps ability summons heavy rain under which fire moves have no effect. Therefore it’s not the ability providing immunity but the conditions set by the ability. I guess it would be comparable to the situation in which bursting aura ace clicks sucker punch on a queenly majesty mon vs a psychic terrain mon
