As a person who has a low income family that went through that several times, I find your comment incredibly insensitive! My family comes from what Trump likes to call a shit hole. We’re as disenfranchised as they come, but I love that they’re showing what the process encompasses because most people will never experience it and don’t realize how hard it is. Their show provides a spotlight for what immigrant families experience all the time. Until my family members become citizens, there was always the fear they could be deported; and some were. Most people take their Western citizenship for granted. And even though they have the financial resources, it doesn’t change the fact that a loved one has to leave the country. It’s an incredibly emotional experience. My family didn’t have money and we weren’t thinking omgsh we don’t have money for this, no we were thinking about how awful it was going to be to not have a family member present. The thought of money making the situation easier didn’t even cross our minds. Are you even speaking from experience? Also, the fact that they stayed with the storyline shows it’s authenticity. The process takes YEARS. It doesn’t trust conclude over night.
