The haunt of Hightower might be worth considering, lower cmc, and the counters you get from opponents putting cards in their graveyard is value! Especially where you can bank off of the cards you don’t get from Tergrid’s ability. Aside from that, that’s a fantastic approach and really helps me with what I’m building

Lower cmc? Tergrid is cmc 5, the haunt of Hightower is cmc 6... with an effect that buffs itself but does precious little else. I could see a voltron-mill thing maybe working there but that seems more difficult to pull off in mono black

Interesting. I hadn’t even thought of the infinite mana combo with the other half. I just went full Stax with my brew, running Pox and Desolation and Smokestack. I mean infinite mana is nice and all but just stealing everything feels much better and you can still close out games easily that way. Even if you have to sacrifice Tergrid simultaneously it’s still worth it

So here is my question....tegrid vs tinybones from a cEDH standpoint. I am mainly a Mr..Bones fan, but many of their synergies cross over. Would love to hear your thoughts.

@@duckhuntdynasty6562 I mean, Bones is easier to get into play sooner, but Tergrid undoubtedly has a much stronger effect. Also, Tergrid is uniquely suited to take direct advantage of an effect like Chains of Mephistopheles, which would be an anti-synergy in most decks, including Bones. Tergrid automatically synergies with tons of Stax cards for that matter. Anything requiring sacrifices or discards. Even a lategame Smokestack can be good, since you uptick past 1 and everybody else is sacrificing multiple things and you can take your pick of stolen things to sacrifice when it comes back to you. Possessed Portal is pricy but also a great Tergrid card as well. If you can get Bones to go off quickly, turn 1 or 2, and have a big everybody discards or such turn 3, though, by all means go for that. That being said Tergrid is definitely the stronger card overall, unless you’re running Leyline of the Void. Of course, you can also run Bones IN a Tergrid deck easily. There’s a lot of ways you can build her. You can even go more aggro with a few effects like Grave Pact to recover from one-sided wipes.

@@ryangainey94 Tegrid may have a stronger ability on the surface; however, a 5 mana commander that gets countered or destroyed easily is tough. Tegrid hits the field, you are target #1. Tiny, not so much. I can see why chains would work better with tegrid, but I would not discount the synergy entirely. Time will tell which sees more play, but the 2 mana commander with card draw is very powerful and not to be underestimated.

Don't forget Umbral Mantle with Magus of the Coffers as another potential infinite Mana combo. Works well with lantern side of Turdgrid ( yes, I meant to misspell that )

I'm running Bitter Ordeal as another win con. With all that saccing you can exile every relevant/threatening card, or possibly every card period. If you don't combo off, you can still devastate a lot of decks early on and the storm makes it much harder to counter.

You mentioned basalt monolith with ring of Brightearth for infinite mana then filter black mana. But how to do you filter the black mana? Not just tapping a stamps right? I need help

Mirage Mirror is usually what is used at that stage in the combo. You can pay 3 to untap it as a copy of basalt and in response turn it into a land that taps for black and untap it, then turn it back into Basalt and try again

Your deck list looks really solid. I was looking through it and didn't see Bloodghast, or Neither Traitor. Are these cards not Cedh viable?

They are just a bit too slow for the game this deck is trying to play in my opinion but I have seen other lists running them.

Desolation can be mean, as would be Smokestack. Everyone overlooks Hex Parasite, but it is by far one of my favorite creatures to run in black. It will allow you to manipulate any permanent that gets counters. I find this utterly broken with sagas, Smokestack, and anything with a cumalitive upkeep. It also kills Planeswalkers and can remove counters faster from Dark Depths if you want. It can remove counters from troublesome cards that get +1/+1 counters or things that might get more powerful the more counters that are on it. I am not saying it is the best card by any means, but this card usually finds it's way into every black deck I make and usually it will die once people realize how disgusting this little bug really can be.

See my older comment? The hex parasite is a good card of course. But a lot of cards are good in Tergrid. Anvil of Bogardan plus Chains of Mephistopheles lock, Possessed Portal, Desolation, Smokestack, Grave Pact... all great cards. If you’re playing budget, Death Cloud and Awaken the Erstwhile can be great finishers. Any effect that has both discards AND sacrifices is supremely valuable, as well as anything with continuous value.

I love my Tergrid it is fun when the table is wanting to high power or something Spicy but I will say I do belive it is ok use when when someone else is use bad Manners and to Humble the one do that
