The reason why the T1000 didn't just kill Sarah immediately was because up until that point in the movie, the T1000 had not heard Sarah's voice. By torturing her and getting her to talk, he could not only mimic Sarah's appearance now, but also mimic her voice to lure John out of hiding.
@Stegodon
@Stegodon 5 жыл бұрын
During the T2 commentary James Cameron stated the reason was because the T-1000 was unsure it could mimic Sarah due to the glitches it was suffering from being frozen.

The scariest thing about the T-1000 is it was the only Terminator with a mind of its own and it knew and liked what it was doing. All the others were just programmed to complete missions. Even Skynet was frightened of the T-1000 betraying it which is why it didn't make more than one.

T2 Arnie actually had a mind of his own as well by this point. Remember the deleted scene where they unshackle ar old from the "read only" mode. So his AI was allowed to fully evolve

@@HALLish-jl5mo T1000s tests were apparently consistent that it would self evolve due to the liquid metal being a form of nano machines son. This would cause skynet to lose control of it and the 1000 would rebel into a more sadistic anti skynet entity. So in a sense the T1000 had "read only" mode but only for a short time before it broke through the firewall and would want to replace skynet as the dominant force. The T800s had a habit of rebelling against skynet as well but would help humans when they were freed. Both options were a problem to skynet.

@@NRF-ee6cp I remember reading somewhere that Robert Patrick based the T1000's movements and mannerisms on that of a shark. By the look of things, the T1000 will keep the titles of best infiltrator, most efficient, most covert, best disguised, best human assassin, toughest, fewest weaknesses, fastest, smartest, all around best Terminator, etc... Because even after four sequels, they still haven't thought of any better Terminator model, no matter how they've tried to market the crappy successor models that have came after him. The T1000 was basically made out of a programmable molecule, there's hardly a way to make a even more terrifiying technological concept; Skynet basically created a Terminator made out of Nanites. The novels however, had a newer T1000 model, that could also inject humans with its mass and control their brains, which just shows what kind of insane technology Skynet came up with. The T1000 was so terrifying, that even Skynet(!) was afraid of it, because the inhibitor protocols of the T800 couldn't be copied to the design of the T1000, so it was constanly in read/write mode and was learning all the time. That meant, that every single T1000 had the possibility to become rogue.

TX is just T800 + T1000 + weapons. It may be “stronger” but its idea of “infiltration” is being a hot blonde with big boobs in red leather driving in a Lexus corvette capping people in broad daylight (no offence to the actress who did her best to pull it off). The T3000 is just “T1000 that can also fly through things” and oh btw was once John Connor lulz The Rev 9 is just a stronger T800 + T1000 that can split in half, though unlike the TX it is smart enough to make sure it’s “default” form is not such an obvious attention grabber. After the T800 and T1000 they kinda ran out of ideas.

This is what they need to realize about making a terminator movie. A terminator is not supposed to act entirely human, it's supposed to act like a machine, so that you feel that something is off a viewer. Also take notice of how the Terminators do not do casual talk. They only ever say what is required. The T1000 here is not small talking. It's making a really simple request, call to john or die.
@gc99289

T1000 makes small talk when it needs information. "He's a good looking boy. You mind if I keep this picture?". - that's pretty advanced level of communication. Unlike T800 he's far more smooth and natural in his expressions and dialogue.

@@carlstanley3718 I think he was deliberately beginning to show mercy to Sarah, why I do not know. But think about this: he didn't need her to call out to John, he already made physical contact so he could have imitated her appearance, and he's already heard more than enough of her voice to imitate that as well. He didn't kill her here because of something. During the steel plant scene, this isn't the only time that he lets her survive when he could have easily killed her. Maybe he was beginning to learn more than we know, maybe he really hated killing people when he didn't need to. The T-800 on the other hand, is a very different story. He seems to take pleasure in demolishing him throughout the steel plant scene. At times you can almost see a sadistic glee on his face. He changed from being very machine like earlier in the movie, to displaying some kind of strange human behaviors & emotions by the end. No wonder Skynet quickly pulled the plug on the T-1000's, I could imagine their unpredictable nature was way too much of a variable for it to tolerate.

Not the toughest model... But out of all the Terminators, they are probably the best tactical thinkers. They play their missions like chess games, and they're real good at it. Just watch how the t-800 stays a step ahead of the t-1000 in this movie pretty easily. Or compare the t-800 in T1 to the t-1000 in T2: The protagonists literally cannot hide from the t-800 anywhere. He's going to find them. Meanwhile, the protagonists totally lose the t-1000 several times, and could have permanently had it not been for the attack on Cyberdyne. Also when they're fighting stronger, more advanced terminators, their tactical thinking comes into play as well. They hold their own against any other Terminator because they are smarter than all older models & don't get seemingly cocky like all newer models. They exploit every weakness of their opponent, and attack and counter-attack to any mistake or misstep their opponent makes.

Either way the uncanny look in general is so creepy and Robert Patrick deserves every ounce of praise he gets for his portrayal as the T-1000. It kinda different way to work, T-800 is old model but has more human like with flesh and blood to avoid the awareness....and T-800 built with real hard rock skeleton....T-1000 is a whole liquid metal body and somehow I think T-1000 has more risks to decompose or more ways to destroy it if you know the particles structure inside it.....

This scene shows great how in the first two movies T-800 was only realistically strong, not even able to lift another Terminator with one hand and getting bent when hit with that big piece of still. Also extremely vulnerable to stun when his head is hit, same as in T1.

I always wondered why between 2:06 and 2:41 the T-1000 just waited and watched the demolished T-800 pathetically crawl across the ground, was it deriving some kind of twisted pleasure seeing the T-800 in such a weakened and venerable state? It seems like an inefficent waste of time when it could have just finished off the T-800 immediately after it collapsed onto the floor.

Throughout the film, it's hinted that the T1000 has a personality (angrily killing the foster father, commenting on the police bike etc). Even the terminator from the first film showed a bit of self-awareness.

@@JELopezCastillo To be fair, in T2 at least, the T-1000 wasn't focused on destroying the T-800, basically every encounter it had with the T-800 was just brushing off its attacks while tunnel visioning on trying to get to John. It wasn't until they reached the steel mill that the T-1000 started actually focusing on destroying the T-800 as it was a constant interference with its mission. I think its safe to say, that if the T-1000's mission had been to destroy the T-800, than it would have been no contest.

The T-1000 is by far the greatest of the Terminator villains, the awesome thing about the T-1000 models, was that it knew how to act human, compared to the T-800 and T-850 models of Terminator, which allowed it be able to blend in better, instead of standing out, like the T-800/850 models did.

Sidney Bell You misunderstand, I’m saying that it didn’t have to waste time torturing and threatening her. Again, he simply could’ve just stabbed and killed her and then taken her appearance. It’s just like Arnold says earlier in the movie, “typically the subject being copied is terminated.”

Lightning Shy indeed. Despite taking her form, it was imperfect..as well as that Sarah told him to move. The T-1000 would’ve just shot and not warned despite trying to act like Sarah if he was in either one of those two positions when John comes out of hiding. His mission was to destroy John and those defending him. Killing T-800 was a bonus honestly

So in case that you wonder why this T-1000 didnt bretayed skynet is because this model in specific was sadistic and knowing that if John lives can make skynet fall it would make the T-1000 not exist, also because this T-1000 had a better human behavior and that combined that he has the powers to not be defeated easley made him feel that he can kill anyone with no problem, also Robert Patrick said that he gived the character a playful sadistic personality making it look like he likes to play with he's victims before killing them just to see their reactions or what they do, the T-1000 finds joy in killing and feeling human fear

It's odd to me that T800 didn't even try to protect itself with his right hand from the direct blows with the rod. He should've tried to use his hand as a shield or something. I know that he can't do nothing anymore to T1000, but at least try to protect yourself.

T 800 is the best. He's cool 😎. He's heavy, bulky, slow, it seems he don't mind to get beat. I blushed the first time I saw this movie when I was a kid, immediately after it was over, I asked my brother what the name of the actor who played the T800 was. The dedication of the T800, the sense of duty, of sacrifice, were forever etched in my mind. It's a violent movie but it carries important messages. Like the limits of automation, Christian morality itself. In the sense of giving your life for a cause.

The T-1000 is not fully controlled by Skynet, it retains some of its own thoughts and desires. Skynet discontinued them because of its potential to rise against its creators like Skynet rised against their’s (the humans). *Independence in a Terminator is more terrifying than shape shifting or skill in combat according to Skynet.*

If Uncle Bob didn't lose his one arm, would the fight been longer and could he stalled the T-1000 long enough for Sarah and Connor to escape? Also another question, if Uncle Bob were a T-850 which supposedly has a stronger endoskeleton, how would the fight be?
@CrucialParodies
@CrucialParodies 11 ай бұрын
Unlikely, even if Uncle Bob had his arm he would have still gotten overpowered quickly. The fight in the mall early in the film with both machines at their absolute peak shows this. The fully intact T-800 holds its own for a good 10 seconds against a T-1000 and then its thrown around like a piece of trash. If the fight would’ve kept going then Bob would’ve been torn to pieces quickly. The T-1000 never gave its full focus to fighting the T-800 until this scene, it always just pushed it out of the way.
@fullchoke01
@fullchoke01 2 ай бұрын
@@CrucialParodies disagree, the 1000 has the upper hand until the steel mill, the cut scenes show it was malfuntioning due to heat and damage- those tiny nano tech particles are individual pieces so over the movie it was weakened, the t800 literally only had to get it further towards the smelt to destroy it, kind of how wr see in term gen once the acid gets to it, the 1000 is far easier to kill than an 800 he has major plot armour
