You remind me of a Stan Winston studios worker from the documentary's I have watched... They are my favorite company in the bushiness. I stumbled on your channel after searching for t800 figures... I enjoy your humor and seeing the love you put in to this type of work. Cheers mate.

Thank you very much, Doc! I Googled some of the stuff which the creative folk from Stan Winston Studios have done, and was blown away by the quality and innovation which defines their work. I hadn't realized that they were behind many visuals in some of my all-time favourite movies. I, of course, am not nearly as talented, but I did have a lot of fun putting the T-800 together! Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a wonderful comment! Much appreciated! - Trevor

Looks awesome Trevor! I’ve had this kit in my loft for a few years and now seeing you build yours has encouraged me to dig him out and finally get started. Great paint job too. 🤖

Hi Kathy :-) Thanks very much for your kind words! The cringe-factor is pretty high in this video, haha, and the finger-painting doesn't do much to improve matters! But this really is an awesome kit with lots of great details. I only wish that I'd scratch-built a blaster rifle and posed him a little more menacingly. I'm sure you're going to love the model when you build it! - Trevor

Have a real soft spot for these older vinyl kits. Their feel, smell & overall design aesthetic are like good comfort food. Thanks for the excellent video.

So cool. There was a Terminator resin kit and an Aliens APC resin kit I always wanted to buy when I was a kid (mid-'80s) but could never afford them.
@OstrichLongneck
@OstrichLongneck 4 жыл бұрын
Darn, I think they would look great in resin! But as a fellow 80's kid, I can sympathize. You just can't find some of those awesome kits anymore. I paid an arm and a leg for a Buck Rogers starfighter a while back! Speaking of Terminator & Alien, I've always wished there was a crossover movie featuring the two. I'd pay good money to see a T-800 hunt down a Xenomorph! Thanks so much for watching and leaving an awesome comment! - Trevor

Very good build,particularly the teeth but i wondered if it would have been easier to trim the excess vinyl before painting the parts?

I think you may have a point. I remember being a little confused by the instructions, though, so that probably contributed to some bad decisions :-)

I also bought this kit and I love it! I have done everything to put it together except physically gluing the parts together and for the lighted up eyes. I can't wait to light those up! I will have my Terminator on a fancy, solid stand and I'll have the battery compartment (that will light the eyes) hiding in that! Indeed mine turned out just as good as his! It is truly a beautiful, detailed model!

Nice work! My nephew was playing with the T-800 model and somehow managed to leave the switch for the eyes in such a way that the eyes lit up all on their own. I used to catch a glimpse of it out of the corner of my eye, but then the lights were off when I looked at the model directly. Freaked me out until I figured out what had happened, haha! Your build sounds excellent, especially the awesome base you put together! I would love to see a pic once you're done! - Trevor

Enjoyed the vid Trevor. Only ever done a couple of vinyl kits myself, and had issues with gluing them and getting them to remain upright. Some good tips in your vid re clean up. Thanks for sharing

+Armour Empire Thanks :-) I'm just a bit embarrassed about spreading unsafe model-building practices. It only occurred to me afterwards to wear gloves! The vinyl kit was a fun challenge, but the drying time is something I'd need to get used to. Three weeks later, and parts of the figure are still a little tacky! Thanks for a great comment and for watching :-)

Great video and an awesome looking T2! It wouldn't have been a T2 without the red eyes...they help make the build! I love the look of those polish-able AK True Metal paints....I need to look at those...if they're available in my secluded region of North-East USA. Cheers, Martin : )

I have this kit, but I've never attempted to build it. I wanted a replica of the Terminator and I saw this kit advertised in a magazine. I'd never seen a vinyl kit before and thought it would be more like a traditional model. After I got it, I was disappointed to learn that the model in the picture had been heavily modified to cut out the areas around the pistons. I thought that was the way the model was going to look out of the box. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice kit, but I didn't feel that I could make it look the way I wanted and that discouraged me from building it.
@OstrichLongneck
@OstrichLongneck Жыл бұрын
I agree completely. I also wanted to do an action pose, complete with a scratch-built rifle, but the finished model is a bit flimsy and would need extensive supports and, as you correctly said, a lot of modifications. Eventually I just propped it up on the stand they provided. It is a nicely detailed kit, though, and I would do it differently if I ever built it again. Thanks for checking out the video. Much appreciated!

Well done mate most impressive most impressive as darth vader would say in the empire strikes back am starting to build mine from a company called hatchette it's 120 weekly parts if you are interested in building it if you go to the world of Wayne where am sure you could share useful tips. I did buy a terminator model T -800 from a company Japanese company called argonuts but unfortunately the instructions where in Japanese this was in 1992 i kept it in its box for about 8 years till I decided to sell it on eBay if it was built every thing would have moved eyes arms legs etc. Anyway mate great build ☺

Thank you very much :-) I had a look at the first episode on World of Wayne - it's going to be a big one! I must see if they would be prepared to send issues to South Africa, although I'd probably end up missing a few issues with our crazy postal service. I'll probably just build it in my minds eye by following the channel. Thanks for the link and the awesome compliments! - Trevor
