This movie gets some flack, but the ending was great. Beside not only not following the cliche norm of the heroes saving the day, but the realization that judgement day is inevitable, but when the guy asks whos in charge, and John says I am, after 3 movies, it felt like a great payoff of him finally accepting his destiny.
@dennisanderson8663 Жыл бұрын
The movie lost its essence since Cameron was not directing. It had way too much CGI and very little practical effects which made T2 so great. Arnold literally didn't want to do the movie until Cameron told him to but to ask for no less than $30 million or something like that.
@CliffuckingBooth Жыл бұрын
Thats one of the reasons i dislike it. Judgement day is NOT inevitable. It happened in the original timeline. T1 and T2 are basically altered universe. Skynet knew he lost in the original timeline so his only chance was to try again in a different, parallel timeline/universe. You can't change the past, you only create alternate universe, which is what Skynet did by sending the first Terminator back.
@DanielRichards644 Жыл бұрын
it catches flack because it spits in the face of the message from the first movies, you know the "there is no fate but what you make for yourself" and says the future is predetermined, thats why people don't like it, even if it is time travel paradox accurate, since for John to exist the machines had to take over, invent time travel and send the first terminator back to 1984 to kill Sarah, it solves that causality loop, so for time travel nerds like myself it's a love/hate thing, we like that it faced the facts of the causality loop but we hated thats how it had to be.
@remo2711 ай бұрын
@@DanielRichards644 1. People are babies who can't accept that 'Playing God' is often futile, or , worse, a bad idea. In the first 2 movies both sides are trying to change the future, hence, playing God. 2. Like you said, this ending solves the Time Travel paradox. But there's also some strange Dignity at the end: humanity survives the nukes and with John Conner in charge we know we will survive the machines too. It's a fight for survival, but humanity has done that before and several times and because of that toughness dominates the planet. Sometimes its necessary to struggle.

One of the biggest reasons is movie got flack was because it came out way later than it should have and it leaned way too heavily on references to Terminator 2. It tried way too hard to remind everyone that it was Terminator instead of just being its own movie

@@DanielRichards644 If you're a hardcore Terminator fan, like me, you'd learn how to enjoy them. Sure, they're not as good as the original two and never will be, but they still have charm to them. Terminator 3 was the first Terminator film to use a female terminator model which was pretty cool, Salvation explored a realistic take on the future war which no other entry in the series has done, Terminator Genisys basically explored alternate timelines which was interesting to see, and Dark Fate while probably being the worst one here it is still a decent action movie in itself that incorporated an interesting terminator with cool abilities (Rev-9). So I think it's pretty unfair saying that it taints the reputation but hey each to their own right?
@thewolfofwallstreet6277 ай бұрын
@@porthokandenizen I respectfually disagree. While you're entitled to your opinion, I don't think you have to like all the terminator films to be a hardcore fan in my opinion. While the third one has grown on me, I will admit there were some flaws in the script, and I felt they made too many jokes in the film that weren't necessary. I know why they did it though. At the time, Arnold was becoming more known for action comedies rather than straight serious action films like he used to do in his earlier days, so they were just capitalizing on it at the time. But, I felt it sort of almost ruined the film. Terminator 3 is still watchable, and it's decent for what it is. I just wouldn't compare it to the first two movies that were masterpieces. Terminator Salvation was OK at best, but honestly I felt nothing got accomplished. Barring all the rewrites and behind the scenes drama involved in Terminator Salvation, I think what we got was just a middle of the road film that focused on a character that most people didn't care for, nor added really anything to the story other than it introduced the concept of humans being turned into cyborgs, which was later reused in Terminator Dark Fate. The focus needed to be on John Connor in my opinion, but they made John seem like an afterthought in Terminator Salvation. It's a shame too because Christian Bale is arguably one of the best actors in Hollywood, and he was perfectly cast as John Connor. The script just didn't give him a lot to do with his character. I do love the alternate timelines concepts that were introduced in Terminator Genisys that you alluded to. However, it failed a lot in it's execution, and I felt the twist at the end around one of the key characters was a slap in the face to people who've been following the franchise for years. I won't get into specifics of that to avoid spoilers for people, but you know what I'm talking about. As for Dark Fate? I disagree with literally everything you said about it. Yeah, it's watchable, but only because majority of the plot and scenes rip off from terminator 2 when you think about it. You should watch Filmento's review of Terminator Dark Fate, as he breaks it down perfectly on why that movie isn't that good. Plus, I felt the plot twist they did while may have been bold in concept, it lead to a pay off that was bland, mediocre and hypocritical. I'd go into more detail, but I'm trying to avoid spoilers for those who haven't seen it. But, I'll put it to you this way. Dark Fate ruined terminator for me. Enough said.

One of the things that was done very well with these three films, is how the characters changed so much as time passed. Sarah Connor in the first film started as a young waitress. About twelve years later, she was a very tough and trained person pertaining to combat and warfare knowledge. She was also a bit nuts. This made perfect sense because of what her character was aware of about the future. John Conner had changed a lot between the second and third films. This was always realistic to me. Traumatic events affect us all. However, what would we be like if we knew what the future held. Good writing.

The robots didn't win. John Connor lived. The reason for the terminators going back in time to Kill John was because John was winning with his Resistance. The machines wanted to go back and kill him so that when they did take over that would be the end. However as long as John Lives humans will thrive and survive. The Nuclear fallout wasn't the issue - it all revolved around John Being alive to create the resistance and win the total war against the machines.

I have always like T3 the best, but that is only because of Clair and I use to live in L.A. for 30 years and enjoyed the insane destruction. Keep up the good work.

20:55 The “talk to the hand” gimmick is from the comedy film _The Beautician And The Beast_ from 1997. The gimmick went viral on comedies shows and on the regular tv news, I am not kidding you, _Terminator 3_ joined on the craze too even after five years the gimmick was started. 41:25 The James Cameron's franchise ended in T2. From T3 onwards is just a revisioned storyline.

I remember ‘talk to the hand’ came from black comedy clubs and The Martin Show in the late 80s early 90s🤔

Hardly anyone has reacted to Tennessee Williams movies. A few have done On The Waterfront. I think you guys will enjoy them: On The Waterfront, A Streetcar Named Desire & Night of the Iguana are incredible.

Now you have to do Alien 3 because while it's also not as good as the first two, it still has its moments. Charles Dance (Tywin from Game of Thrones) put in an outstanding performance and the whole concept of the planet that it takes place on is interesting with or without the xenomorph. If it wasn't the follow-up to the two best horror / sci-fi movies of all time, it would be more widely considered a good movie in its own right. It just had some big shoes to fill.

Perhaps the best part is the truck/crane scene….it’s incredible…the production ran out $ to film it, so Arnold paid for it out of his own pocket…thank u, Arnold 🎉❤😊. For Asia: nobody told me but to me it’s obvious y people / androids must go through naked: that way they can’t bring future weapons w them. Ps: the best actor here is Claire Danes 🎉
@redmoonbloodmoon3161 Жыл бұрын
the terminators themselves are future weapons, not to mention their individual body parts (their weapon body parts: arms) of them are future weapons as well there's some reason they have to go through n'ked for the time travel, I read about what exactly it was somewhere, but forgotten, but it just has to do with how the science of the time-travel device and fictional/in-verse science of it, works... ------ PS... the street chase scene with the semi-truc-crane... getting flipped... ever wonder where the dark knight got its scene with batman using his batcycle and its cable cord to flip the joker in his huge semi-truck came from? this movie, T3: Rise of the Machines

You guys should keep watching the rest! They are all so good. Especially the last one called “dark fate”. The first 3 and dark fate are my top 4 but the other 2 are very good as well. I’ll definitely watch if you watch them. Love you guys!!!

I love this film, it’s the first terminator I ever seen. And it’s my love for this film, that made me ask my mother for the first. And I was obsessed with the first two as well as 3. I’m 33 now and I still love them, the first one I have a very unhealthy obsession with…. I absolutely adore the first film beyond the coast.

Can't wait for y'all to watch TERMINATOR SALVATION!!! 😁 Best Terminator since T2... Stars the Dark Knight aka Christrian Bale as Future Leader John Conner... Movie takes place AFTER Judgment Day... No corny 'Talk to the hand" jokes... Just post-apocalyptic Terminator craziness with an intense Bale (and Jake Sulley from Avatar) bringing a welcomingly different tone to the franchise that never recovered after. But man, this movie felt like the only proper sequel to T2 vs all the others that came after

I would definitely recommend "Terminator: Salvation." The move focuses on the events during the actual future war, with Sam Worthington playing a main character in this movie. Christian Bale is also John Connor, and a whole slew of fun actors. While a little removed from the regular stuff, it's pretty fun to watch.

I'm really glad you two decided to watch this, sure T3 has its flaws and might not compare with the other first 2 movies but I still think it was entertaining and I liked the fact the in the end John finally accepts his destiny to be the leader of the resistance.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (which was released between T3 and Terminator: Salvation) is where it's really at. That'll have a lot of material to talk about. It's the best thing with the Terminator name attached.
