It's so funny to me that Contra, which was a ripoff of every action and sci-fi flick of the 80s era more or less, was a great game while all the actual game versions of things like "The Terminator" and "Rambo" sucked.

I get the feeling that it's because that the company's that made the games that were based on the movies were relying on the popularity of the movies themselves to camouflage the shit puddles that were the games whereas contra had to hold up itself all by it's lonesome and it greatly succeeded

You know what's really weird? Nearly every shooter game James played in the past he mentions Contra, which is a really badass game. He did a Castlevania marathon since he always mentions it, how about making a Contra marathon of different Contra games both good and bad? I bet that would be very interesting since James always seems to bring up the name Contra in a lot of these old episodes. One of these days he will I bet.

Besides the actual sky-high quality of the videos, what I REALLY like about AVGN is the fact that he, unlike many other reviewers today, not only respects other people's opinions but makes clear that he's not gonna knock anyone for having their own, or force his on anyone else. And plus, he looks forward to the newer games and plays those, too. So here's a guy who looks to all ends of the videogaming pantheon and therefore has a 100% complete perspective on what it is he talks about. And I'm sure such a universal view and level of respect helps the video quality, too. Deadass, other people could learn from him.

The NES Terminator game could've been awesome, because they originally gave the license to Sunsoft, but during the making of the game the license expired. They changed it around and published it as Journey to Silius, which is a simple but fun platformer. Kinda sucks that it wasn't released as the Terminator game, 'cause maybe then more people would've bought it.

The wrench tactic totally works with the game Rygar as well. As a kid I used tape and a pile of some coins with an NES Advantage to leave Rygar sitting there killing enemies in a place where they re-spawned infinitely.... I think I left it on while I was at school, by the time I came back I was totally powered up and was able to beat the game pretty easily!

drokan bazckos Or if the game is a pile of ass like some of these crap Terminator ones. If a game is literally _unfair_ to the point of un-playability, then I really don't care if I cheat at it or not. If the game is fair, then yeah, I only cheat if it is for shits and giggles after beating it fair and square, or perhaps a PC game with console commands that help extend the life of an already great game. Take Jedi Outcast or Academy for example - you can spawn any NPC you wish, on any map you wish. I do that all the time just to set up extreme challenges for myself or to cause massive chaos in a level. =D

In Dragon Quest 8 for the PS2, you can run in one direction against a wall. This way you can get the alchemy pot to work faster, since it is based on how many footsteps you have taken. In addition, the odds of actually needing to fight a battle are low when you run against a wall. I didn't discover this trick, I read about it in some GameFAQ text.
