I've always imagine terminators as being these super menacing things, that are almost impossible to destroy. So what if they made a Terminator survival horror game, kind of like Alien Isolation, where you're constantly being hunted down by a single terminator. You can fight back though, but your guns won't kill it, only slow it down.

I really want Naughty Dog to make a Terminator game. Make it Last of Us with Terminators with more heavy guns but make ammo scarce. Mediocrity is a relative term. An example of a game designed by writers is a Telltale game or a David Cage game. Does that mean that ND puts too much or too little effort into gameplay? Nah, the majority of people would agree that the Uncharted series and TLOU are solid gameplay wise. Of course, ya know, that's mostly opinion based as well.

K so the main one is that gigantic portions of this game had to be ripped out due to McG's interference. They had several setpieces with the giant "Harvester" robot, including a multi-part boss fight where you fight it as it's punching through walls and sticking its face in to attack you, like a Contra boss, while you escape the Terminator factory at the end. But McG got really upset because YOU CAN'T KILL THE HARVESTER THERE'S ONLY ONE EVER BECAUSE IT'S SO COOL, and this happened fairly late in development, so they had to take all those parts out of the game and didn't have time to put anything else in. So there's big chunks of the game that are entirely missing, and the ending boss was turned into a limp repetitive section where you just have to escape while killing a comical amount of T-600s. The game is still built around leading up to that boss fight, so the Harvester shows up several times to foreshadow it, but nothing ever comes of it.

I'm in no way saying the game would be great if they'd left that in, but it would help. Another hilarious thing is that the tunnel section where Matt almost immediately died from getting shot by something he couldn't dodge or kill in time, used to be much much much worse. Your health would drain almost immediately once anything started shooting at you, since their targeting was way too good and you had absolutely no way of defending yourself. That remained unfixed until almost the launch version of the game, and got fixed at the very last minute by lowering damage values and enemy HP instead of programming it better.

One last, very minor thing: there's a point in the game where a character speaks with a heavy southern accent, and one of the testers flagged this as a bug because "the character was talking like a black person but his model is white" The shift manager closed the bug report with the message "NO NO NO NO NO NO NO"

SkyNet was originally going to have a golf course. It would be revealed that SkyNet wasn't trying to destroy humanity but save it and had a bunch of other hybrids like Marcus. The hybrids made it to filming but deleted in the final cut. As for the game, the music was a highlight. And IMO, there was two really good moments. The first when you counter an HK and the second when you come across T-600s. You can no weapons so you're forced to run. Which makes complete sense, Terminators should be scary.

Isaac Morrison I remember pieces of it, but I only saw it once when it came out in theaters. The thing I don't get it is people defending T3 and shitting on Salvation. I felt like Salvation was at least trying something new, even if it didn't work. Like Matt saying we should never see adult John Connor... yeah, it's hard to get John Connor just right because everyone is going to have an idea of what John Connor should be like and therefore can't live up to the hype. So what are we going to do? Endlessly have Terminators go back in the past and save John? (Assuming NOT making movies isn't an option.) I mean, I guess it could work, but it needs even more delicacy than showing adult John. T3 felt... lame. The very basic idea was kind of interesting: They can't stop Skynet, they just have to save John. But it was generally everything we've seen before, and a lot of it was things that didn't work. Like, "Hey, T-X can control cars because cars have on board computers! And those totally control steering as well as gas and break pedals, right?" Matt talks about Skynet offices having desks, chairs, and pens... I mean, I find it plausible that Skynet just took over offices that humans had used and re-purposed them. T-X's abilities were ludicrous and all over the place.

I agree that they should never directly show John Conner but maybe they could give us glimpses. Lets say in a giant battle from some overview we see a car drive straight into the horizon toward a shit ton of robots. The humans say its John Conner than all we see is explosions in the distance like that scene in mad max fury road. After the chaos dies down we see the car returning driving back toward the humans as they celebrate. John Conner should be something that's always slightly out of view, off screen, unfocused or something along those lines so we never get to see him directly but see the results he leaves behind and the awe he puts people in.
