3rd time in 5 years the back glass quits on us. So after a lot of electrical back tracking and troubleshooting we find the problem…..some of it at least. #grandwagoneer #jeep #fsj

It’s a pain if not fixed properly and a joy when it works. I ordered a new tailgate switch, new clips, a relay, remote etc from bj’s and my window flies up and down from the dash switch, the tailgate and remote now, luxury!

Yeah it’s worth fixing for sure, especially with as much time as we spend in it. It’s the little things that matter most sometimes 😆

I went with the BJ’s switch kit as well. Took some trial and error figuring out which wire went where, as the wiring in my 86 was slightly different coloring than the wiring diagram in the kit. Once wired up correctly it works like a charm. Price was rough but I’d say worth the peace of mind.

I went through the same with my 90. Broke in the same place. Found the metal switch BJs uses, made a spacer and has worked great ever since.

I shoulda looked around and tried to find the switch. Probably cheaper I’d imagine.

My son kept having his back glass in his Golden Eagle come off track on one side. He replaced the original clips with the upgraded ones from BJ's and hasn't had a problem since. I got the key switch to work in the Wagoneer the other day so now we are working on it. Probably ordering the tailgate window relay for both rigs today to hopefully help with the speed of the windows lol. I also hate electrical stuff too. Since I work for UPS no comment lol.

Haha UPS is the better of them for sure

Factory in my 84 was a couple of funky clips that I mangled when pulling them off the pins. I used a couple of C clips and washers for reinstallation. Those motors are reverse polarity, so up sends power through one side and grounds through the other wire, and down flips the circuit in the opposite direction. Like you said, the ground is at the front switch. Both switches have to semi function for the power to complete. A relay system helps tremendously. Not too hard to build. I have a diagram of one up on fsjnetwork. There's a few vendors that make them as well. I too have noticed a decline in shipping speed the last several years. It started even before 2020. I finally installed a hidden winch on Radio Flyer. Only thing visible out front is the control box mounted to the fog light bracket.

Yeah the reverse polarity took me a minute 😆. I’m gonna dive into the front switch after the holidays hopefully. I’d love to see the hidden winch, I’d still like to do that as well. P.S. WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!!! Haven’t heard from you in a while😆

@@TermiteOffroad The hidden winch write up is on fsjnetwork as well. I commented on your last video as well. 😆 Edit: I went back and looked. Looks like YT deleted it or it didn't go through for some reason. It was concerning Andrea's question about long hair and helmets. Really sucks cause it was a long reply with some options I've used since I've had long hair in the past. Other than that, I've kinda drifted off social media a bit. Life get's busy some times.

i hate my 90 grand wags rear window. ive fixed it like 8 times now, the nightmare are those clips its hard to get to them and get them on and off.. The key switch always breaks because of thee plastic flip switch... which is actually idential to the power seas switchs... so i got like 6 of them from Junkyard wagoneers.. but they always break.. i wish someone other than BJSwould make a metal one,. for now it only works with the dash and im tired of messing with it. So if your keyed switch ever breaks, remember the power seat switchs are identical and you can replace that plastic flip switch with them One time it broke because the dash switch got stuck up and it busted the plastic gear in the motor... the switch i talked about has broke like 4 times now, and then the window felt seals on the side wore out and tore and get caught in the window when going down.. its just a nightmare of a window. Good luck getting the factory cruise control working, i tried for years... i gave up... i replaced every fuse, switch, box.. knob everything for it.. those never work I personally hate the owner of Bjs.. Ryan, hes an absolutetly ahole of a human being... and BJs charges 3-4x premium for their junk when you can get it elsewhere.. so i will never buy from them

I didn’t know that about the seat switch, that’s good to know though. Cruise shouldn’t be to bad, we have a 5.7 Hemi and Hotwire makes a kit for it, just got to get it done! 👍
