Update: at summer's end, I checked on all the usual areas I've found termites before, tree stumps and logs near my shop. I didn't find a single termite anywhere I baited. No sign of swarming this year either. I'm going to call it a success 🎉 I'll be rebaiting in the spring.

I'll try this method, termites are already stressing me out. The house and surrounding area has been treated already by a professional (it costs a fortune!) but problem is the backyard and i cant seem to get rid of them using termicides, they just kill those sprayed but they kept on coming back.. so im hoping this one works for me and kills the colony or atleast drastically lower their population. A big mango tree was the biggest victim of the termites and i believe the chemicals i sprayed in the ground around the tree added to its demise, i got a couple more trees and this big tamarind tree, i saw a termite mud tube (oh yeah, im from the Philippines and here on vacation, SoCal resident here) and im hoping i eliminate em termites in time. Thanks for the tip man!

Thanks, I appreciate that! The wood will naturally be leached by the watering regarless of its placement. I would place it where it's just getting wet but not drowned. what should be the Quantity of borax per litre of water ?
@SHobbyist Жыл бұрын
The example I used is approximately 4 litres of hot water, but depending on temp, you want to add the borax until it ceases to dissolve regardless of volume of water. Too much will just be wasteful and collected on the bottom. But keep in mind, you can reuse the solution a few times before disposal. So you can do a few batches rather than one large one. Cheers!
@chanakyasinha8046 Жыл бұрын
@@SHobbyist okay thanks,i wanted to know ,if less quantity of borax will take less time to kill termites and hence the chance of reaching to the queen termites will be more .And how many days will it take to see the result .
@SHobbyist Жыл бұрын
I see. The result is relatively slow. A week or too depending how they are feeding as it disrupts their digestion and they starve rather than direct poisoning. The concentration of borax will be controlled by the wood fibres and their retention capacity. The termites will eat and share those fiber chewings. Less is probably better than too heavy a borax concentration as a rule of thumb.

Can boric acid be used as a liquid barrier treatment if you are dealing with an infestation? In other words, could I dig a trench around my house and pour in a boric acid solution. Please kindly let me know why or why not give this a try. Thank you for your kind suggestions with the wood bait. I will try that too, but it sounds like that is more preventative, is that correct?
@SHobbyist2 жыл бұрын
I would not. The boric acid would just leach out and down through the soil column. The intent is to get the termites to consume the borates. This requires some sort of tasty treat to be eaten that has the borates inside. As soil is not eaten, but moved by the termites, I don't think it will be worthwhile. Hope that answers your question. Cheers!

@SHobbyist2 жыл бұрын
Probably not because the borax and sugar have to be in the wood. Its the wood they're mainly interested in. You should trace their path back to the soil and bait there in my opinion.
@MT-sb2oe Жыл бұрын
You can just use a paint brush to coat your cupboards in the borax mixture. That will protect it. My termite pest control guy uses Bora-Care in the same way to treat his clients houses but he charges the same amount as tenting the house. He also wants a monthly contract. Ugh. This method does the same thing but at a much cheaper cost.

That's a good question. I'd say it was worth trying out. You could check it after some time has elapsed and see if the treated bait wood shows evidence of being eaten. I've only used these in soil myself. I'd recommend to seek out an on-site professional to take a look if you feel the termites have compromised anything structural or the infestation is not manageable. Good luck and good hunting!

@@SHobbyist Thank you for responding so quickly and for responding at all! @@CryptoNewsTV I cannot answer because in the end I did not do the treatment. I think it was because I could only get the Borax from Amazon and could not afford what their price was - must have been very tight that month! In the end the indoor door which was infested had to be repaired by a carpenter and likely was too far gone anyway for this treatment. Having completely forgotten about watching this video and commenting on it, I am very glad you asked about any results indoors as now I think the info will stick.
