I don't think a 2j will do that well In a prerunner. Gotta have a turbo to make any power which means you gotta be in the high RPMs to make that power. No low end torque.

302 is a great option for the small trucks. Solid power, dirt cheap, and the dimensionally smallest (common) v8 available. Swapped my Ranger's Lima 2.5 for a stock Explorer 302 and it's a whole new world.

@@andrewaguilar8317 If you want a solid runner straight out of the junkyard, best source imo is 95-2001 Explorers. GT40/GT40P heads and GT40 style intake from the factory. Peak Windsor 5.0 before they canned the engine entirely.

Why so much camber at ride height? Bent from the landing in the jump at the beginning?
@Jroracing2 жыл бұрын
This is a completely different front end then in the video. The camber/caster we built into the beams helps the truck corner better. It makes it want to push out of the turns instead of the tire folding out and riding on the outter edge.

@@jackmossman7559 your building a custom vehicle, make it all fit anywhere and every where, nothing custom is cookie cutters that’s why it’s called custom fabrication. I was expecting something amazing in the engine compartment and for ME personally it was a let down
@jackmossman75592 жыл бұрын
@@jamesborst8383 wrong, there’s packages that just won’t work. A Toyota V8 is easily 8” wider total, that affect shock mounts which then effects cycling on the beams and travel numbers. Then you have to put tube work around it, headers, run lines, mounts, etc. there’s a reason why people don’t do it. Cause it doesn’t fit….
@Jroracing2 жыл бұрын
We had many different options of motors that we could put the 302 was one that fit very well in the engine cage that we already had built. And to build a Toyota motor to make more power cost a hell of a lot more than it does to build a 302. The packaging of this fit the best out of all the different options that we had.
@jamesborst83832 жыл бұрын
@@Jroracing well you can get different transmission ratio, 3rd member ratio to ease the motor and make it feel like there is more power then you actually have, reliability is all I’m taking about, you build the truck to take a beating and the motor should be reliable unless you trailer it to and from
