Thanks Charan. Arount 2.2hr into the video, when we use 'data source' and run init, will the .tfstate file capture and save the details of 'NextOpsVideos' RG and the Vnet, subnet that you created manually?

Yes it will store the references but not the resource itself. When you run a plan or apply next time it says refreshing state means it reads references and refreshes the existing resources info dynamically

You are doing a great job in creating such valuable videos. Can you please do this Terraform+Azure with this scenario? Use SPN and secret to connect to Azure, but instead leverage AKV to fetch the secret. Also, fetch the PW of VM from AKV at the time of VM creation. Use a managed identity for authenticating to azure instead of an SPN.

Hi Charan, While deploying especially networking related resources, I can see NetworkWatcherRG is getting created. Why is it so ? I think it's newly getting created now in Azure than before. Am I right ? or any explanation to it ? Thanks for the previous response 🙂

Hi Yashwanth, it by default gets created by Azure. It enables network monitoring tools as part of the deployment. It's been there for a long time.

Variable file contains a keyword and prefix will be hard coded. This will be used to dynamically form a string for resource name.

Hi Venkat, around 2.2hrs into this video, you created new sources by referring to manually created vnet/subnet resource. Once deployment is completed using "data", will the state file now recognize the manually created vnet & Subnet, if yes, then should we remove "data" from our next deployment?

Who is Venkat? I'm Charan 😊 you should never change your deployment file no matter how you deploy either using data or resource. Because terraform identifies it as a change and does apply or destroy based on modifications in the deployment file.
