Thanks very much for demonstrating your technique. That one trick you pointed out for doing the stairs is exactly what I was looking for. I'm doing a DIY porch resurface using parging mix and have had no idea how to deal with edges (e.g. stairs) other than applying the product sloppily around the edge and trying to work it into a half decent edge with a brush. Putting the one trowel up top to lock in the product when troweling it into the face of something is going to make my life a lot easier the next time I put my masonry hat on. Thanks again.

how thick can the STS be applied or built in layrers?
@erikbogart6764 жыл бұрын
the work looks good for sure. just curious as to why you wouldn't take the 8 or so fasteners out of the handrail to remove it. now if they ever replace the handrail that spot will have no overlay, not to mention it would have been way easier to put your finish on. side question how soon before you could put sealant on the expansion joint?
@TerrafuseInc4 жыл бұрын
Customers are in charge of what they want done, and when you add extra costs, sometimes they say no 🤷♂️ You can apply the sealant within a couple hours.

The bag says you can use up to 30% aggregate, does that mean you can add something like sand to increase the total surface area you can cover?
@TerrafuseInc Жыл бұрын
More like 1/8" gravel and larger. Sand will dry it out too much. it is more for when you are doing deeper repairs (deeper than 1" or so)

You've shown a great instructional tutorial. I've been trying to find out how to do my own project. I'm going to attempt to repair a small area without hiring a professional. I have exposed aggregate concrete which i really don't like. I want to resurface it to a smooth finish. To start with, I want to prep the area by grinding it down a bit. May I ask what type of grinder/wheel you're using on your Dewalt tool to prep the surface with? Thank you.

Does TF always dry to the same color? Or could there be some variation depending on the mix? I had my front porch done about 6 years ago, not with TF Structural, but with regular concrete. I'm not sure what the contractor did but since it dried it has always been about 4 different colors and it drives me nuts. TF seems to be my best option to get one uniform color outside of ripping it out completely and having it done over. Just wanted to know if I do this myself what are the odds that I'll end up with another spotted porch? Lol.

It does dry fairly consistent, but can definitely have variations in the coloring, especially with exposure to water. Can you send pictures? mike@terrafuse.com

Hi excellent video! I heard you mentioned you had to work around the railings. I wondered if you are re-doing your steps and adding new railings. You would fix your steps prior to adding on new railings? Ex: Correct broken concrete corners, lay down a new layer etc. My mother hired someone and they’ve started installing railings and the steps have not been redone and I’m not sure which is the correct order. Just seemed like to be working backwards.
@TerrafuseInc2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it’s easier to fix before installing the new railings for sure, but can be done both ways.

Hi, I will be doing stairs like these. I've watched most all of your videos. Other than the aggregate added to the mix poured into the forms, is there anything different between product you used for the repair, and the product you use for the top coat? I've seen the videos where you repair driveways and always that mix seems wetter or more fluid. If it is the same TF structural you used for the stair repair, can you just use it without the aggregate and do the fishing all in one step. Many thanks as I will need to make my order soon, just trying to figure what to purchase
@TerrafuseInc3 жыл бұрын
Nope, it is the same product, just mixed to a different consistency ( bit wetter for horizontal, bit drier on the verticals or deep pours). Yes, you can do it all in one step, but I recommend the risers first, and once set, then do the treads and landings.

What kind of surface prep would I need to a concrete porch that is not in bad shape but could use some resurfacing to the treads and risers due to normal wear & tear over the past 15, 20 years?
@TerrafuseInc4 жыл бұрын
In most cases, a heavy pressure wash will be fine. You want to make sure you remove all the loose, deteriorated concrete, as well, there can’t be any old paint, or sealers of any kind. You need to get to clean, porous, sound concrete for the TF Structural yo bond to it. 😎
