@@TerrainMadeEasy Kind of a misleading name then? It's a suggestion. If you're going to put yourself out there. Then be prepared for criticism. Appreciate the constructive criticism too. 🙄
@TerrainMadeEasy2 жыл бұрын
@@CarltonMasonNorwood Pardon, I was politely saying that there was no point in the criticism because I wasn't planning on making more videos any time soon. The name is what the channel was called, I am not going to change it because I am not making videos currently. However, to actually answer your feedback. I quite simply disagree. I was a little confused by your first comment, if you found the video difficult why would you speed up the video? The video might need time stamps, and if you see my comment to the person previous, I actually said I could add time stamps if people wanted them. As for simpler explanations, that's a trickier subject, if you make the video too explanatory no one would watch as the video would be boring and thus I wouldn't be helping anyone. If you don't explain them enough people get confused and it doesn't help anyone. I am personally very happy with the balance I set. Happy to take on all kinds of feedback, negative, constructive or whatever, if lots of people said they found the videos hard to follow I would change the, but way more people tell me the videos are easy and useful.

I tried this with cardboard and glue only years ago, but cardboard base is not good because it will bend. Nice to see an alternative. If you wanna have a sort of 3D Effekt you can use layers of glue and paint them. It takes more time but looks even better.

Looks amazing and ticks all the boxes for me! Cheap, robust, and looks good. As for the best basing material I’d say vinyl was the winner here. With so many wet materials going on I’d be concerned about MDF warping or disintegrating altogether.
@TerrainMadeEasy4 жыл бұрын
To be fair yes I was going to sap like xps foam instead of mdf. Foamex / epvc would be the winner, but it's expensive!

The vinyl is also thinner, so it'll stick up from the flat table much less. The banks will still protrude, of course, but the overall profile will be lower.

@TerrainMadeEasy4 жыл бұрын
Thank you kindly. I think if you are doing a resin pour you just paint the river base brown and let the pour do the work, but for this I think you need the colour just to help it, it's like a real and stylised mix.

I am quite enjoying using vinyl tile as a basing material. It's so simple to cut.
@TerrainMadeEasy4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's downside is really that it's floppy, not useful for like big projects that are weighty. But for some stuff, it's low to the ground and easy to cut.
@svenfolkesson75713 жыл бұрын
@@TerrainMadeEasy Curious about this, could you please elaborate? Floppy how, and why not good with weighty projects? Many thanks!
@TerrainMadeEasy3 жыл бұрын
@@svenfolkesson7571 Vinyl tile is very bendy, it's fine for small little things like base size, but you wouldn;t want to say put like a hill on it, as if you picked it up, it would flex. I'ts not fully solid like wood.

For those in the U.S. I found that most Lowe's or Home Depot's if they have an open box of vinyl plank lying around there are frequently single strips here and about. @virnovigoratus70804 жыл бұрын
These look very nice! How does the vinyl tile handle on the table top? Does it have a tendency to slide? Also, if you did make the embankments straight, you could paint them up to look like concrete, or add metal grated walkways along the sides. Paint up the water to look murky and polluted and then you would have an industrial canal for 40k!
@TerrainMadeEasy4 жыл бұрын
I don't find them any more slidey than say epvc / foamex. And yeah that's a nice thought on canals or sewers. I might redo it at some point with slighty better materials :)

So, the corrugated card board for the banks, that's just a cost reduction thing right? I feel like foam core could get subbed in there. How do you feel this could translate to a basing technique? I'm building a beach board for my 40k and I am thinking some of the jet bikes and flying tanks may get water bases, but I want to really amp up the wake you see on them.
@TerrainMadeEasy4 жыл бұрын
100% Foam Board would be better for that, or xps! For basing like on a mini base? I just don't think you'd need to bother, I think just stippling mod podge or something similar a few times might work? I'm not certain though.
