Cheap Warhammer Terrain Bunker - Cardboard Only

In this video I make the cheapest warhammer 40k bunker I think you can make, it is cardboard terrain but I think it is pretty solid, as well as being easy to make.
It may not be the greatest wargaming terrain you can make, but if you put this Warhammer 40k terrain on any board, I think it would fit right in.
My Dimensions:
Roof - 16cm x 14cm (Diagonals were 4cm by 4cm and then diagonal line)
Walls - 7.5cm Height
Shooty Hole - 2.5cm from ground, and then 2cm tall gap, width was 1.5cm from the end of diagonal line.
Door - 4cm wide, 5cm tall.

My local discount shop LOVES me, as I take away their huge bags of folded down cardboard boxes for my projects. I get loads of free material for making all kinds of fun things, they save on their recycling charges, so everyone wins :-) Cardboard modelling was huge when I first started making "models" way back in the 1970's, and is still my go-to source of material for many of my projects. Now it's called "creative recycling" but I still call it "FUN." :-)

For the price and time, its perfect! I would maybe try to paint it like its made out of some metal, because the walls are a bit too thin for concrete, but at the end its actually lot less disturbing, like I thought at the beginning.

Yeah, I didn't even speak about how much time it took, because it was only about 2 hours at most. I understand the issue in thickness and I wouldn't do it for a dio or something but for something from like 2 foot away on a table, I don't think you'd really notice!

This basic template can easily be embellished in small ways, to address the plainness issue. Applying a brown wash to the lower sections to imply dirt or mud. Sticking smaller, thinner bits of cardboard on the walls and painting them metallic to look like machines or conduits (a similar effect could be done with lengths of scrap wire or bent paperclips). Flicking red or rusty brown paint, to imply a blood splatter. Printing out small pictures of propaganda posters and gluing them to the side. Writing graffiti on the walls with felt tip pens.

For sure, I tend to try and keep things simple to stop making the video super long and complex but those are some good ideas to help with the plainess!

Hey remember when Midwinter Minis made those concrete walls? Guy made a paste mixture that included flour and salt and coated the styrofoam with that. It gets a nice concrete texture when it dries. That might be even cheaper than the spackle or filler etc.

It is sheaper but I don't like the idea os using bio stuff like that incase it gets mold etc but filler in the uk is like £1 so pretty darn cheap.

The bunker looks great and using cardboard was a really good idea since most people have boxes around the house. The texture of the bunker looks like concrete and the colors are perfect. Thanks for sharing this neat tutorial.

great video! I think it's better to make an embrasure a bit higher and make a kind of a step near it, so the figures would be covered insight and protected from direct fire, and figures on the step could do shooting

I like the idea of crafting Bunkers out of cardboard. I'm gonna have to try it. It sounds like a good temporary bunker until I can get more plastic bunkers.

Hey, do you have any idea's on how to do a thatched roof for some dark-middle age's terrain? I am going to try faux fur but I'm not sure how that will turn out and I'm looking alternative idea's.

It's not something I have done but faux fur seems to work, as does maybe twine (rope threads). I reck The Terrain Tutor probably has some good tips on it.
