I did find a solution that worked for me. I created a new shared folder checked the permissions before moving any data or new folders to it and then it populated in Plex for me.

Would it still be possible to install proxmox on this NAS?

I was able to install Truenas on one of their devices in the past: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6vdZaGbqbaNiMU So it may be possible with this one

how did you get such low speeds? on my f4-424 max i get arouind 980 megabyte per sec in smb transfer :O and in iscsi mode, i was checking other reviews they get around 900 megabyte per sec as well. so how can you get so low? ur drives faulty or network wrong? or is ur m.2 ssd dying? with linear write speeds up to 2090MB/s and exceptional 4K random read/write speeds reaching up to 400MB/s. This means the NAS can write data sequentially at a maximum rate of 2090 megabytes per second wich seems to be Nearly true it reaches around 1700 ish This indicates the NAS can handle small, random data requests (4 kilobytes in size) very efficiently, reading or writing them at a maximum rate of 400 megabytes per second wich if you use vmware test is nearly 92% accurate. you can nearly expect to see speeds close to the 1050 megabytes per second give or take wich is what most does and i watched other reviews wich gets similar results. some other terramaster products get even better results. so why is your speed so low?

i would suggest you do a single m.2 as its own pool and try send data to that back and fourth to check if maybe you got somthing broken ?
@HikaruGCT

then do a traid pool with balance mode enabled and check verify results.

These CPU's are a bit of an odd bird - The two/six core split is probably fine, especially for things like plex where the cpu usage isn't high if you have the hardware transcode. And light background things, like gotify and pihole would run just fine too. Four bays? Ugh, I would have loved to see five at least - that way you can RAID5 and still have four disks - with only four max, if you want higher capacities your forced to go with larger disks to get there which just complicates things like rebuilds. But overall it's not a bad package - but that price? I guess that's the world we're in now, and they are trying to keep up with Synology, especially with the shiny new TOS. Not sure what was up with your transfer speeds? I can't imagine that was normal, or this thing would fail hard.

They have a f6 max model, much better pricepoint for the extra bays

At some point I question why you don't take hard cash for "reviewing" and make a video of all these NASes and other "NUC" type cases. I mean these thingies are basically multiplying by the second on EVERY of these channels. There must be also the consideration of having place on the shelf of things and stuff sent by the manufactures. At some point this shelf is full and then where to put it? I for one have seen a bit too much of all these products lately.

I've been thinking about it for some time, prebuilt NAS or building a PC? Have you any suggestione of CPU - mobo combo that is better of the F4-424 MAX? Thanks in advance.

@@giuseppebruschi9798 and that's where you lose time investigating, putting components together, battling with compatibility and stability. so less money? maybe, but if you include your time then it's not always worth it

Really depends if you're running vm's and a few dockers. If you're just doing storage and plex, any 12th gen Intel i3 will do. Just be sure it has a integrated input for transcoding. So a k skew series not f or another. Anything larger has a higher power draw and probably requires an air to be cooled.

This is great NAS compared to synology and others but install third party NAS such as TrueNas, Unraid etc. Never trust the Chinese company handling your sensitive files.
