Well it really is going to depend on about factors... Model (the T5, T7 or the T9). Hours - how many are on the machine, Pins & Bushing Wear - how much slop they have including if cylinder packing is good and not leaking, Engine - you can get a Perkins, Kubota and I think a Cat now. Tire Wear - how much is left and overall condition. I used to have an excavating business in the late 90's early 2000's and I had 6 of them. I also had a number of Bobcat 773 skid steer loaders along with the older series T200 track loaders, about a 12 Bobcat 331's, 334's and 341's mini excavators, 2 Leeboy 638B mini graders, a number of Cat D3D dozers, Case 450 dozers and Komatsu D21A-7 dozers. I teamed all this compact equipment with a number of 1 ton 4x4 dump trucks. I also had all of the standard full size equipment doing what most companies do civil wise. I mention all of this because back in the early 90's compact equipment was coming on to the scene and gaining popularity. The funny thing was I made more money with all this compact equipment than I did with the full sized equipment. I didn't have to worry about guys having CDL's to move it, operating costs were far cheaper, we could do jobs the larger companies couldn't and therefore we had increased rates that were comparable to our full sized equipment. So as for your question and anyone else, there is not a lot of difference in the T7 & T9. The T7 has a 8' 6" digging depth as where the T9 is 10' Tires, engines and basically everything else is the same. Mine all had the 31.5 3 cylinder diesel. We did replace one engine with a Kubota in as comparable in HP. No problem engine wise with good maintenance. Bought all of mine from private owners and a couple rental companies right around the 500 hour mark. All were right about 2000. New, if I recall we about $20k - $24K depending on configuration, buckets etc. I paid $10K to $15K for mine. Something to consider and keep in mind when it comes to equipment. At 500 hours you need to service everything. If you are using in a business running daily 5, 6, or 7 days a week as we were doing, you can reach 500 hrs annually. The farmer, home owner, etc. maybe 250 hrs. would be more likely if that. At 2000-2500 hrs. its time for trade-in. At 5000 hrs. it time for an over-haul of many components, 7500 its going to nickel and dime you to death and at 10,000 hrs. it is JUNK! Now of course there are exceptions and how the unit was used. Some are harder on equipment and it can be junk at 2500 hrs. Nick is right that back in 2013 and even now in Oct. 2017, the T9's are not easy to come by. I have recently seen 2000 models with 2000 hrs. go for $12,500. But you can figure $10K to $15K for a good used one. A 2013 T9 with 600 hrs. you can expect $20K to $25K. This one they were asking $23,900. You can find deals out there and don't be scared of a rental machine! Normally they will have records and ask if they can show who rented the units. Like me, if they can show them, if a lot of businesses rented it, be a bit more cautious. However, I wish I would have kept one of mine, a one ton dump and a trailer, which I am now looking for. I just bought another 10 acre property and I want to do some clean up and build a pond as well as ditch the little stream. The one at my rental store the next county over only had 500 hrs on it. A really good tight machine, but the paint was faded bad as it sat outside. I inquired a number of times about buying it and they said it rarely got rented but were considering updating it. It was a 99 I do believe. They lost my contact info and they sold it for $11K. That was a steal! I have dug out tree stumps half the size of the T9. It took some time and had to drag the stump after removed but they are great little work horses! As for the T5 or a gas model... RUN! Don't waste your time or money on one! They are powerless and more headache than what they are worth! You could even pay me to take one and if I did, it would be take it to the nearest scrap yard that would take it. I'm clueless as to why Terramite would even produce such junk! Its always best to go check any unit for leaks, slop in pins & bushings, wear, engines noises etc. But again, most of my local rental companies say they don't get rented a whole lot. But if you look at one from a larger rental supplier like Sunbelt here in Ohio, yeah go over it with a fine tooth comb! Not sure what Nick sold these 2 for and a shame he didn't respond but for 1500 hrs. I would have offered $10K to $12,500. Hope this helps and good luck if searching for one. Do your home work and you should be able to find a good deal if you can find them!
