Originally they were supposed to have a different tech tree but the fans didn't want that so Blizzard just added a couple new units. They later explained this by saying the expeditionary force used locally available technologies because they would be easier to maintain and replace. The "uuber tachyon lazers" were left behind on Earth.

Makes sense on a few levels really, would more make sense that a separate tech tree would be a lot more trouble to implement- and the excuse holds up with the whole thing of logistics, especially with how far out the Koprulu Sector is meant to be from Earth. Especially since the Terrans are using exactly the same techbase, any special equipment the UED brings from Earth isn't going to last long in sustained warfare if they don't have the capacity to replace it.

The Terran 4 theme might have the ''Terran'' label on it. But one thing is certain. As your start the first mission in the BW Terran campaign, this music is chosen as the first to play. Implicitely, it seems to imply that Terran 4 is associated to the United Earth Directorate. You can notice the military/patriotic undertone of the whole thing. It opens up as if you were an expedition that just arrived in a foreign sector, then it picks up with trumpets and drums to symbolize the UED conquest.

For the longest time growing up, I thought that DuGalle was Russian (the valkyries too for that matter) and I had imagined the events of Starcraft were set in some alternate timeline where the USSR won the Cold War. This time not taking any risks, and planning a loud, big, invasion force. They're out there, just waiting for the race that ultimately caused their downfall to diminish, the Zerg. Holding back with the invasion of Char due to the overwhelming presence of Terran military presence. Holding back with the invasion of Korhal, with the looming presence of the Queen of Blades and her Swarm. And expecting the Protoss to burn the Zerg to the grpund with their full scale invasion of Aiur, but holding back with the Alliance in the Epilogue. With Kerrigan gone, Mengsk dead, and the rising Protoss and Terran forces, they continue to lie in wait for the races to once again, and then swoop in when their enemies were weary of battle, gaining control of the lost sector. Or at least... What they hope to happen. Man, I really want to see the UED again

I am a huge fan of the UED. I was a bit sad to see that the only UED units we can use in SC2 are Spartan Company Goliaths. Yet, I laughed quite a bit during the final mission on Char. Remember the UED attacked Char to take control of the Overmind. So when I called Spartan Company on the ground, I was like : ''CAVALRY HAS ARRIVED, THESE GUYS ALREADY FOUGHT ON CHAR, HELL YEAH!''. Imagine Spartan Company thinking : ''Aw, not Char again?!'' Haha!
