At some point in the story you come close to the mountain where the goat incident happened. If you take a look inside the cave you find the skeletons of both side by side. Hands down the best game of that era and one of the best action jrpgs ever made. This game shaped my childish mind back then.

Just finished the game for the first time. So many melancholy moments. Fantastic game overall. I only used the magic twice. Once to see what it did and another time to teleport out of the forest. I didn't know that the ring or pin changed back to a magirocks or I would have used magic more. You can use the magic by selecting the ring in the jewel box while in the inventory, but that's even more cumbersome than having the box equipped and cycling through the rings. Before this I had recently completed Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia. Now on to Granstream Saga.

23:50 Its good that you warned Us before going into spoiler territory in the Review. Many people Don’t do that enough unfortunately. I’ve been interested in the game for a while but my backlog is at the point where sometimes I don’t know where to even begin. So I tend to jump around a lot between systems. I’ll see when I can get to it so I can finish this video but Good work in your review so far. Keep going and persevere. 👍

Jesus how may times was this game gonna make poor Elle say good-bye? It's as if the writers discovered the perfect way to kill the same character over and over yet make it feel impactful instead of tiresome or absurd. Christ, if a one hour video gave me this much anxiety i probably wouldn't be able to a whole playthrough. Also the way Elle runs out the door at the end is all i needed to know about who was on the other side idgaf about anyone else says! Holy shit what a ride, thank you for it.

Three things about this best best RPG of all time: 1. I think Ark is not dreaming to be a bird, I think it is his reincarnation. 2. There is a german fan project for a sequel Terranigma 2. It is a Windows game and they are still working on chapter one of the story. There Ark is starting as a bird and then being transformed back to human, because he gets a new mission to save the world again. 3. There is a youtuber who is creating great modern reinterpretations of the great Terranigma soundtrack. You must look out for the channel of Roman Heuser.

Ya seemed a little choked up there at the end of the video. You were talking about the end of the game and seemed at the breaking point. About to bawl? Cwy!? Yeah, this game nearly gets me every time. Has to be the music. Or the story. Or how well the two go together. Or the fact that, well, having to say goodbye to all you love. Anyway, when one understands the cause of tearjerking the wuss factor becomes null. Anyway, great video!! I am surprised I made it all 54 minutes through, but Terranigma is just that good!

OK!! first gotta say that i love everything about this review. particularly how you broke down why certain scenes resonate. I play TGC games mostly and journey and sky are mostly A to B straight line linear experiences. so why do they resonate?? its a fundamental difference to the polish and people being subverted not by weird changes to a story (FF7r) but by gameplay mechanics that evoke a particular response from the player. i thought terranigma was a clear cut 9/10 game when i owned it when i was young. its a straight up 10 by the standards we set for 10s today.

Still to this day my favorite game of all time. Just like in Illusion of Gaia / (Illusion of Time in France), the french translation was pretty ood. It was done by Julien Bardakoff, who also translated A TON of games in french for Nintendo (like Ocarina of Time or the first two generations of Pokemon, including naming all the characters & Pokémons with french puns, even a joke from a french comedian about Red’s rival that went under the censor radar)

@@AlfredoAVA that's fair, especially after VIII came out on modern hardware and really made people start paying attention to the series. but I still think the original duology, wanderers and mask/dawn are quite overlooked unless you're a diehard retro player so I think there's still some merit to showcasing them

Terranigma is one of the best Games on SNES. In Europe you can say, that the first 3 places for the best RPGs are FF VI, Chrono Trigger and Terranigma. Was my first owned game for SNES and I loved it. Still playing it ;) The music is just insanely good! Not to forget about the Story and the Graphics (for this time). I could already see some different parts in the story. For example: The light Arc, kills dark Arc, but he told him that he can't beat the dark Side, because he is dark Arc and needs to be reborn in the light world. The only way to do so and to be a part of both sides, is to kill him :)

For me it's the best game ever made, looking from the outside I know it has its flaws, it's not the best game. I got it when I was five and couldn't even read. Remembering being absolutely terrified of the luran-zombie world, singing along with the fluffy-(German) theme trying my best to beat this game, even tho it took me 7 years back then =). Showing this to my now wife because it's one of the most important thinks for me. Alle the memories. I can say this game is a big part of who I am. And now that I'm grown I see this game different, I understand all the dept that's I has. There is no single piece of media that means more to me. ❤️

One little key note about its lack of release in the North America. Enix closing their US offices wasn't the only reason it wasn't released here. Nintendo chose at that time to focus solely on the release of the upcoming N64, so many newer SNES titles never managed to get pulled over to North America.
