Terraria but Water and Air are Swapped

I think the reason you couldn't fish is that while you are in water and have cast a fishing bobber, you are unable to catch a fish. So while the bobber was only looking for the water tile, your player was "underwater" so the game assumes you are in the same body of water as the bobber and prevents fishing. I think if you were also in a (separate) body of water you might have been able to fish. Maybe, this is all just based off my own cursory knowledge of Terraria's systems.

You could have tried the trident, it makes movement in water as fast as in air, would have made just moving around in the world significantly faster. It also increases vertical movement so u can quickly switch to it to drop fast during bossfights.

I'd love to give this mod a try, but my preference would be for water and air to operate as normal, just with the breathability conditions swapped. That way, you can get around normally in air, and deal with things semi-regularly. Just, uh... gotta stay hydrated a little more than usual. That'd be swell.

Not quite the same, but in Minecraft, there is the Origins mod, which adds origins to the game, and one origin in particular, the merling, which if you happen to choose to play as, will give you a similar gameplay to that mod in Terraria, where you have to drink water to survive, and not just a tiny bit, loads and loads and loads of it, actually, you have to drink so much water that on land, you can only stay there for 15 seconds before you start to dehydrate, which is represented by your thirst bar, with each water bottle you drink only giving you two full water droplets, or the equivalent of an extra 3 seconds, however, if you go underwater, you won't have to worry about dehydration as you'll automatically drink the water that's around you and you see your thirst bar filling up, and you also won't have to worry about your oxygen because your main ability as a merling is that you can't drown.

Hot take: Crawltipede is not the problem with the Solar Pillar. It's the Selenians, people just don't quite realize it. They rocket at you at the speed of light if you don't hit them, and you can't hit them with projectiles while they're spinning. If you could fire projectiles at them safely, dealing with the other Solar enemies, especially Crawltipede, would be way easier. Of all the times I've died to the Solar Pillar, even when playing Melee or Summoner, most of my deaths have come from Selenians, either directly or because I got killed by another enemy while trying to deal with them

Fishing is broken bc you can't fish while fully submerged in water and the mod that you use probably just really did switch air to water with all the mechanics. Also maybe if it works like that you could just block off the entrance to tunnels and then breath.

Anklet of the wind, along with most other movement speed boosting items (with the only exceptions being magiluminescence and shadow armor) doesn't actually stack with boots. Meaning it's basically just dead air in your accessory slots if you use it alongside boots.

I'm like 90% sure it stacks and the speed meter thing is just broken. Movement speed reforges for your accesories just don't affect it at all, so I assume there's tons of other things like that

In an attempt at ocean mob genocide I once drained both oceans in a pre-master mode seed that had the old buggy ocean that would occasionally just spawn way way higher than the actual land. Unfortunately... I drained them into the surrounding biomes and flooded like 2/3rds of a large map. I think I'd have great fun with this mod on that map.

If sinking in air is slow but rising is still fast, maybe an upwards OSOGOF tunnel would have worked for plantera (assuming you kill her before reaching the surface and enraging her) Possibly switch to the Daedalus stormbow in the tunnel if farming hallowed mimics is possible (movement speed might make it rough)

solar pillar simply build a platform up in the air and shoot down at the enemies youre far enough away from where the enemies spawn that most of them arent a problem, but youre still considered grounded since youre on the platform, so the worms wont aggro on you either
