If you think about it, out of everything we fight in Prehardmode (except mayne BoC) the WoF is absolutely terrifying in comparison. A mass of flesh, eyes, and mouths that latches onto you with tendrils of flesh as it chases you through hell... the only time we really fight something comparable is with the ML, and by then your character has seen so much and has gotten so powerful the sense of fear is gone.

To those struggling with the Wall of Flesh in the comments: 1. Build a Hell bridge 2. Get A LOT of Beenades 3. Use Beenades on Wall of Flesh Edit 3 years later: Good lord I made this comment back before 1.4 came out LOL! I'm supprised this comment has gotten this much attention, with everyone else having varying strategies. Looking back now, I find it quite poetic and appropriate that the Night's Edge, having it's spot as the ultimate sword of prehardmode as long as it did, can finally stand a chance against the Wall of Flesh these days!

First time that happened was a complete accident. Back in 1.1, I was farming for money in the Underworld, and got my inven filled with Guide Voodoo Dolls. I was used to throwing my items into lava to get rid of them. I immediately panicked, and used my Magic Mirror to escape the Underworld. Thank goodness I wasn't playing as a Hardcore Character.

Apparently the lead dev, Redigit, confirmed in the official Terraria discord that the Guide is the Wall of Flesh (which is why burning the Guide Voodoo Doll summons it)

Lol I know this isn't official but I think the wall of flesh is probably some sort of voodoo atrocity because the doll doesn't really burn considering it survived in hell for so long so if you throw it in lava it continuously kills the guide qnd the wall of flesh is just the guides meat

I just started terraria recently and this scared the shit out of me, I had my volume down when i was fighting the wof once and died to a bone serpent so the wof didn't despawn, then I turned it up as I was on my way back down to hell and I hear this terrifying theme that scared the hell out of me, I just kept yelling "what the hell is happening?!"
