Well yeah, of course it makes sense. It started off by needing someone living in someplace like a hallowed desert to be able to sell both types of pylons. From there, it just needed to cover everything like that.

I have used stair clipping to get into the temple early several times before 1.4. Before the terra blade was moved to post plantera and sleeping to speed up time was added, getting enough eclipses to get the broken swords took forever without this glitch. However, you could use this glitch to break in and grab some solar tablets from the chests in the temple and save yourself lots of time. Of course, this no longer matters due to those 2 aforementioned changes. But still, this did at least have a use at one point.

A funny thing that worked on my first playthrough was actually actuating the blocks of the temple, me and a friend used it to make a significantly larger arena for golem :p

A very long time ago, I got into the temple before planters because the spikes generated in such a way that it replaced some of the lizard bricks in a way that, when I broke the spikes, because at that time you could break them before you got the picksaw, I was able to get in.
