what blown my mind is the research. No one ever pointed out that all this is just a folklore of British era. most fascinating point was no one knows the full name. If he was recruited then there should be some documentation related to him. British govt love doing paper work. They document all the British nationals. Kudos to you!! Absolutely brilliant how you stated the facts at the end 👏🏻 I am from Shimla and have visited the tunnel a lot of times with friends, be it in the evening or at night. This myth has been circulating since so long that even some locals had started to avoid the tunnel, you see the mention of the same in so many ghost stories. Shimla obviously had a lot of British presence accompanied by the ghost stories as well, be it in the town itself or the outskirts, like this one. And on Baba Bhalku, it’s totally correct that he had a major role to play in the entire Shimla -Kalka railway network, as he was an expert in the geographical conditions of the region.

Zain bhai , I used to do go on expeditions to haunted places like lambi dehar mine, dagshai cemetery,barog tunnel etc during my college days, I have spent a whole night inside the barog tunnel and just found mosquito, jin salon ne merko kaat kaat ke maleria krwa diya , likin koi booth nhi mila...sab machar ke daar se gayab thye...btw narration bahut acha tha

Hey zain. I am regular viewer of your videos. Bdw i was born brought up in shimla and ye kalka shimla train travel i did about 70 times. Other then this i had friends of barog since childhood. Ye kahani wahin ke anpad log paroste hai , taaki wahan ke logo se pooja paath ke paise le sake. Other thing, bhalku koi baba nahi thae, vo ek gadariya tha, ye track ko vo ittne acche se isliye guide kar paye thae, because bakriya charate huae unhe saalo ki Umar inhi pahadiyo me beet gayi thi. To britishers ko vo exactly guide kar paye thae ki kahan did karke se pahad ki kis taraf exit point hoga, is tunnel se aage bhi kaafi dur tak bhalku ne is track ko guide kiya tha. Britishers ne naam hata diya tha you gave right reason ki engineering credits me indian person nahi chahiye. Baaki rahi baat tunnel ke kisso ki, kaafi log sunkar aate hai to dimaag me vo baat rehti hai, travel lamba hai 6 hours almost to co-passengers ko btate hai. Isse kisse pass hote rehte hai. Kuch incidents ke hone ki wajah rahi ki tunnel itni jyada gehri hai ki Kuch logo ko usme dabaav mehsus hone lagta hai, usse thoda anxious ho jaate hai. Kisse or kahaniyan aage ka kaam kar gayi. Anyways felt nice to watch this. Keep continuing the videos. Love that you cleared things in end, rather then adding up more to this hype

Hey Zain, I am thoroughly enjoying this series which you have started and I really wait for these episodes. Please keep up the good work Just wanted to a wild theory which I have after listening to this story. The reason why there is no reference of the name of Col. Barog in any of the English newspapers may be that such miscalculation and failure on part of a government official would have greatly dented the image and reputation of the British Government. So to avoid any such embarrassment they decided to keep it out of papers. I have no idea if this is the reason or something else, but just wanted to share what I thought. Please keep up the good work and keep such videos coming up.

Seems like another urban legend because even according to a quite recent Times of India article that place was called Barogh even before the construction of the tunnel started. The Times of India states quoting The Bombay Gazette of August 14, 1899 - “A detailed and final reconnaissance for the Simla-Kalka railway has now been completed by Mr Harrington (the chief engineer)….The proposed alignment will necessitate the construction of three important tunnels, viz. Koti spur...Barogh...and Tara Devi.” Its good that this myth is debunked by this video.
