Ya wouldn't think a paper disc could supply enough abrasive force to cut through plastic. Impressive.

You are cutting in the wrong direction, that's why it's jerking a lot. The sawblade should always rotate against the direction that you are pushing the stock. Not that this will improve it a lot 😂

great vid! small suggestion though: what if you put a flywheel of some kind, so when you cut something, theres more power on the saw. instead of relying solely on the strength of the motors, there was more power. yes, it would put stress on the motors to spin it up to speed, and if its fast enough, it might need a gearbox or something, but i just wanted to add this. ;)
@GazRsExtremeBrickMachinesКүн бұрын
Hey there thank you for the comment, I’ve thought long about this and I should have tried this to see which works better. As a slicing machine I think a flywheel would have been better but I’m not sure it would help during a long cut like with the wood as it just means more drivetrain loss. For an initial cut the flywheel would be great but it could also put too much stress on the Lego axles which I was also worried about. Thanks for the input it’s appreciated :)

Amazing machine! I will say, the Lego saw blade probably would have performed better if you had spun the blade in the same direction as the teeth pointed instead of the opposite.
@GazRsExtremeBrickMachinesКүн бұрын
Hey there thank you very much :), I think the teeth were but it’s an illusion. Unless you mean turn the blade round? The blade was spinning clockwise as you look at it.

Hey there I hope you’re well! It was thick paper/card. It’s just the friction which melts plastic pretty well. It can also cut wood but my saw wasn’t powerful enough.

Blade teeth need to be offset slightly to the right and left of the center line.
@GazRsExtremeBrickMachinesКүн бұрын
I should have done this for cutting the wood! For the carrot slicing it worked better like this. Like you know without the teeth offset the friction on the blade overwhelmed my motors. Thanks for the comment :)
