I didn't think I could sleep during my sleep study either but being SO tired like you and having no distractions (no phone, TV, computer, books) I slept pretty quick. Turns out I had a weird sleep disorder. I wasn't given a name for it but with treatment my sleep cycles have leveled out and I'm doing SO much better. I'm hoping and praying whatever is going on with you has an easy fix. Severe exhaustion can be something bad but it can also be something easily fixed with a med change, vitamin supplement, or sleep change. I know it's hard but try to focus on the easy fixes until/unless you know its something bad. Doctors always have to rule out the scary stuff first because it's so bad. 💐

Holy shit! I don’t know why I haven’t thought of stories since my parents moved into a home that has a church and cemetery as their neighbours! They moved around 2019, I haven’t had anything crazy happen and I’m too scared to go smoke in the backyard at night, it’s out in the country area so lots of brush and wildlife and let’s just say I’m not scared of the wildlife…. Unless it was a black bear or something lol

My mom told me she heard someone walking down the hall and into her room and then someone sitting on the end of the bed (the side would be where my step dad slept) he was in the living room and she thought it was him and opened her eyes to see no one and an imprint in the bed!

Hey! I have Narcolepsy with Cataplexy. Like many sleep issues, this is diagnosed thru a sleep study. I want to assure you that it is not someone watching you sleep and will not be that bad of an experience for you! It is not scary at all, you are in a bed in a quiet room alone all night. Dont be nervous! Hope this helps!

With your sleep predicament, my theory is that you're tired based on adapting to having been isolated during a pandemic in addition to stress and the speed at which you think in a day. For people with anxiety specifically, I believe the pandemic has reconditioned our social threshold so like....unless your the athletic type who works out and goes out often to do some physical activity, your body may have just made a new standard of rest needed to function. Sorry super long train of thought. Another thing; I personally feel like I'm super productive and get a lot done in the first hours of being awake but slowly lose mental energy and either feel a lack of social int. or a need to isolate and recharge. Try this: for the next few days, plan to go out with a friend for like something small or big whatever. Do that for maybe a week and if what I'm thinking is right, you'll be fine while at each event but exhausted once you get home due to the body storing what amount of energy will be needed for the event. Its worth testing it, because sometimes its not an issue of a whole separate disorder but simply a symptom from an existing condition like anxiety, depression etc.

Girl same about the sleeping, and I'm usually not a good sleeper in general- but like I HAVE to nap in the afternoon, and it's not a food coma or lack of sleep. Something in the Arizona air I swear, just literally in the last like 3-4 weeks- I wonder was there a virus or bug going that didn't show symptoms but has a lasting effect of fatigue? I've been thinking of getting my bloods done too to see if I'm anemic or something!

My house is haunted. It’s been happening got about 10 years and my god do I have some stories to tell that would have you clutching your pearls. I have become so used to it that most of the time I try to ignore it but some times it is absolutely terrifying. I have been dealing with this for 10 years and it is still mind blowing to me. You never believe until it happens to you. Things happen almost daily but sometimes it will go dormant for a week or two and then it’s back. But the activity is pretty much every single day. The experiences are just unbelievable. If you only knew. You spend one night in my home you will leave a believer. And then you probably won’t return.

So I was listening to this video making dinner, and I stopped cooking when I heard you were experiencing the same kind of sleep thing as me. All my blood tests came back normal, I wasn’t low in iron, and I didn’t realise sleeping that much was unusual. I’ve always been able to sleep heavily for 12+ hours with no issues. It wasn’t until I moved from Canada to Australia and met my husband. We were inseparable, so he noticed and said something (I was 30, I’m 37 now). We were going into the city on a date and even though I had a nap earlier, I fell asleep mid conversation, which obviously didn’t go over well (he’s since forgiven me lol). He made me go to the doctor, where I got the previously mentioned blood tests, but also was sent to a sleep study. Funny enough, my sleep study results came back with no abnormalities or obvious reasons that would explain the excessive sleep. The only thing that keeps bugging me is how surprised the attendant was when he woke me up to go home, he commented that I’m unpleasantly grumpy when I get woken up. I’ve only ever met one other person to experience the exact same thing. You are now the second… which makes me feel a little better that I’m not actually the only person with this sleep thing…

Hi Courtney! I too sleep a lot, sometimes I feel like I'm sleeping my life away. I get to where I can't keep my eyes open. Its seems to have gotten worse since COVID, I rarely go out. Although I'm 60 yrs old, n have a lot of health issues, plus major depression, anxiety n PTSD. I wake up tired. Anyway enough of me. You're young, n see a doctor regularly so hopefully they figure it out. (Without more meds) Do u exercise? Maybe find something u like to do outside the house. Thanks for being u. You're beautiful, inside n out. Live ur spirit. Much Love. Take better care of yourself.

I went through the same thing when I was in high-school. I legit slept 34 hours in one weekend once. For me it just turned out to be a rather severe symptom of depression. I has been getting therapy for a while, but that can't fix a chemical imbalance in your brain so I had to start taking meds.

Don’t stress on your sleep study. The only time they’ll really look at you in the monitor in their view is when the electrodes attached to your head transmit unusual activity, or signal a more serious issue. They won’t bother you at all. What they’re looking for is a number. How many times you wake up out of a rem pattern. You’ll be okay and it will either eliminate or make obvious whether your sleep is actually restorative, which doesn’t sound like what you’ve described.

The one week I’m up early is when it’s TOM doesn’t matter what time I go to bed or how many hours of sleep I get I’m up early but after the week is up need more sleep. It sounds like a thyroid condition which isn’t dangerous at all. It just means your thyroid doesn’t work the way it naturally should so you’ll just have to take a pill every morning and you’ll feel so much better. I had the same thing going on when I was 18 and turned out I had hypothyroid disease. It’s not fatal but it caused weight gain in most cases and always a crazy amount of fatigue. I’m sure it’s just something minor. Don’t worry too much. 💕

i had lyme disease misdiagnosed for 6 years, thought i was mentally ill but i was just really sick with lyme. so no matter how hard i tried to fix my mental health it would always come back worse because i wasn't treating the root of the problem which was lyme disease. when i finally found a doctor that would listen to me and figured out what was wrong with me she said taking antidepressants was like putting a bandage over a wound that actually needed stitches; it's not going to heal fully and will probably get worse with time. if you need anything I'd be more than happy to give you my email and possibly exchange numbers to show you i'm a real person that has gone through something very similar that no one really talk about because there's still not a lot known about lyme disease and the stuff that is now known is still very new knowledge that is still being continuously taught to old and new doctors. edit: also been watching you since i was 17 and I'm turning 22 next week!!! ilyyyy

You probably won't need to sleep directly in front of a stranger. You'll be hooked up to monitors all night in a separate room from the technician, and they'll maybe check in every few hours. Emphasis on "maybe" Just make sure to remember you meds, dress comfortably, and maybe take your own pillow. I had to have a sleep study done before I went in for surgery. The technician I got was a fellow nerd. So I ended up getting more talking about sci-fi, and horror done than sleep. But, supposedly. 25 minutes of actual REM sleep, out of the 9 hours I was there was enough. lol Don't worry. You'll do fine.

I can relate to always being extremely tired. My sleep schedule is wack tho, I have a 3 yr old and a 17month old, and 3 yr old has Autism and he never wants to go to bed. Lol so by thr time he goes to bed and my youngest wakes up, I've slept Like 4-5 hours. Then have to go about my day 🙄 and hardly nap, unless both my boys are napping at the same time. It's a sh!t show. 😅

Try Vitamin B! I have depression/anxiety so I also sleep a lot too but have found B works really well. If I had to guess its probably something simple like a vitamin deficiency. Hope it all goes well!

Hey girl. I know this was 6 days ago but ask about getting your thyroid checked if they didn’t already!

Sounds like Mono to me. The fatigue is real ... also, with the sleep study - you are in a pitch dark room and you can't see the people that monitor you. It's not as weird as you think (other than the gazillion things attached to your head haha). I hope you figure out what it is. Also, I had already started commenting before you said don't start writing what it could be lmao - sorry!
