I really can't express enough how much I appreciate that while you guys may share an urban legend, you also share a likely rational explanation. There are other channels who will tell the urban legend version of a story while not even mentioning it's an urban legend. They certainly don't bother with any rational explanations, even if there is documented proof that nothing supernatural actually happened.

As an archaeologist, bogs and cold swamps are SO INTERESTING!!!! with basically no oxygen, cool temp and high acidity , the air the normal bacteria that breaks down humans need to survive, bodies are often amazingly preserved! They are also known as bog bodies and are basically accidentally 'mummified', although in some cases they were done as a tradition to preserve them, similar to Egyptian mummies! anyway, nerd moment over! back to the video :D

I can't help noting that the Louisiana Rougarou in that story never actually attacked. They **felt** threatened, but all it ever seemed to do was mimic their actions back at them. Had they not given in to fear, they might have made friends with the clearly intelligent creature and come away with video proof of the Rougarou's existence as it cabbage patched with them to Lynyrd Skynyrd over beers instead of only a vague story.

There is a really fabulous academic book on the Archaeology of Ritual and Magic by Ralph Merrifeld. As always Be Amazed you got it right, mummified cats, hidden shoes, witch bottles, even keys were hidden within the houses structure, or under a hearth or front door step, or up a chimney against witches and a witches ball hung by a window to keep the witches or their magic out. Nowadays many people believe incorrectly these to be done by witches themselves. The history of magic and archaeology is a fabulous subject to study ❤ And the Irish swamp monster was Awesome ❤❤❤

I live within the 5 mile range of where the warhead disappeared and my friends Granddad owned the land where it is located. The Army Corps of engineers comes out yearly to test the soil.

There is probably a reason but why don't they freeze the soil/water to make it solid enough to dig through, so they can get it out, instead of waiting for it to inevitably corrode enough to leak and cause a serious problem? They froze the muddy base of the river Thames in London to make the tunnel for the Underground, so it is possible to do that to fairly large areas.

Hearing about Pendle Hill took me back to my childhood. I was born in Preston, a few miles away. My mum told me stories about living in the area in the mid-1960s, including the time she had a few of the young apprentices at the cotton mill she worked at looking at her very differently. One asked her what she had planned for Halloween, so she said that a few of the office ladies were going to Pendle Hill to meet with the rest of their coven...

I'm from Louisiana. I have also heard de callin' and de bangin' of sticks together. De only probl'm is figurin' out if it is de rougarou or de skunk ape. Both are quite common down here. De diff'rance? Skunk ape is like a Bigfoot only with de most pungent odor. Like shrimp left out too long in de cat's dish. The rougarou is half man half wolf. Like dat dere Lon Chaney Jr movie character, de Wolf man. In addition, dere are de swamp witches, ghosts, goblins, vampires, fue fullets, and worst of all de cauchemar. Y'all gotta rememba, when goin' n de bayou, ya best be careful not ta botha de ape an' de rougarou, or ya goin' be swamp cat bait if ya lucky. Disclaimer: while I have actually heard the banging and calling, I don't believe in the rougarou or the skunk ape. I think I more than likely heard "Rick" but it makes a good story especially when you put the accent on it. Fun fact: Louisiana has the most alligators of any US state.
