“Stealing” garden gnomes used to be a thing with uni students on holidays here in Australia in the 1970’s. Friends of ours did it. They took a gnome when they were going on a round Australia trip. They took Polaroid photos of it at different tourist destinations around the country, and then dropped the gnome back on the front landing of the house late one night and then left a plastic envelope full of copies of the Polaroids with it for the owners.

My Dad was the consumate collector of iconic vintage toys. He had an ALF doll he dearly loved, as it had been a favorite show of his. Once when visiting my parents in AZ, we kidnapped Dad's ALF. We took Alf on an adventures all over California (where we live) and neighboring states. We made sure to take fun photos, picked up and sent postcards from ALF to Dad, bought t-shirts, keychains, bumper sticker s, etc from the many "tourist type locations" we visited, to add to Alf's vacation memories. After a full year, we returned ALF home, along with a small child's suitcase completely covered in travel stickers, and full of his many trip treasures. We never fessed up as the kidnapping culprits, as he was snuck back into Dad's collection with Mom's help, ALF" just reappeared." We never gave ourselves away. This was Dad's greatest unsolved mystery, and it brought him ( and us) much fun and joy! About 5 years later we planned to do another kidnapping, this time abducting his old "Michelin Man Doll," but sadly, Dad passed away before we could pull it off. I loved the Travelling Gnome story!

I was a very active graffiti writer in the 90's and I can say for certain. Kid & PK are two separate graffiti artists. It's extremely common for teams to place their names so close they look as if they were a single name. Hanging from high places is also slightly common with graffiti artists, but generally only done a small amount of times by the average graffiti artist. Because after putting yourself through it, you generally don't want to again. These were obviously some brave writers.

I've always thought that, it should be legal to paint trains. I get that there's safety issues, but come on.. we can solve that problem. So here in my town, there was this neighborhood calico cat named Snickers. Nobody thought much of Snickers at first, but some would leave food and even sometimes a box for him to sleep in outside. Well, one day Snickers just completely vanished. Some tried looking around the neighborhood and even other nearby towns, but Snickers was never found. Some suggest Snickers was cat-napped, and brought somewhere far away, while others think Snickers got lost somewhere we don't even know about, and passed away. I live in Alberta Canada. When I was in highschool over 15 years ago. We used to walk along the main road to get to the school. And along the way we would always start finding these random little Christian comic books all over the place. Tied to poles slid inside cracks of bud stops places on fences, the most random spots. It would only happen once in a while also. After a month goes by my friend started noticing them pop up in other places in the city also. We thought it would be neat if we could catch who was doing it, so we decided to start taking the bus to school MUCH earlier. 5am most days. We started noticing even that new comics were set out already. So we tried for a little earlier. But same thing. We never did catch who was doing it, but the comics would show up randomly throughout the night.

Considering one of the main appeals of that mystery vending machine seems to be its stock of discontinued and obscure sodas, perhaps the reason it suddenly disappeared one day was because the person operating it ran out of their stock. And since the sodas were discontinued, it was impossible to restock, and the person thought it would be an affront to the machine's reputation to start stocking it with exclusively conventional items.

I was about 16 or 17 at the time & he was probably about 10 years older than me back then. Kid & PK have been tagging since the 80's at least. I am 43 now so PK is most likely in his early to mid 50's I would guess but every once in a while I see a new spot hit. That story about the gnomes going on short holidays reminds me of a story section in a book by Australian author, Andy Griffiths. In his book ‘Just Annoying’, the chapter ‘Wish you weren’t here’ includes a story where the protagonist, named Andy, borrows his neighbour Mrs. Scott’s garden gnome and takes it to Mildura to take photos of it for a friendly prank. Long story short, the gnome ends up in a wood chipper. An ending worthy of Stephen King.

The pickle thing is actually easy to explain, a friend of mine died on the road and his girlfriend lays his favorite food out for him. someone nearby tried to make a big deal out of it claiming it to be something ghostly before she explained that she was leaving it as an offering for him. she chose to go around the time of his death 5:43 am so it would be hard to spot someone if you're not doing a 247 watch or something. At least that's what i can understand the pickle thing as, his gf would leave out burger king but a specific kind of burger that he loved a lot and would always get. Shes done it for 2 years and i met her by accident one day, i already knew her but had to ask. So while not ghostly, it was still sent as a tribute for his passing. And honestly heck, i would also do something like that if my lover passed on. Tho maybe to his grave xD
@JasonSmith-lg3kg2 ай бұрын
Soon as I heard about the pickle thing this was my first guess. People that lose loved ones in traffic accidents often set up memorials at the sight of the accident or leave offerings from time to time for them. Even if police do catch them they usually do not bother the person as when the accident is mentioned the police either know of it or can quickly pull up information about it and it's just that persons way of dealing with the grief no harm no foul kinda thing.

I live near Skidmore Missouri. If none of y'all have heard, there was a murder outside the bar there one night. The local bully was shot, and nobody will say a word of it. According to one man, this guy was absolutely horrendous and would bully anyone for anything. Skidmore is now practically a ghost town, and maintains an air of mystery, fear, and dread. It chills the spine even passing through the town. 30 seconds is still 30 seconds too long spent in Skidmore..

It seems more likely to me that they ran out of the usual rare cans they stocked and so put it in storage while also ordering various unique/limited cans from around the world, hence also posting a series of images of the vending machine travelling to different locations across the world while they work on securing and transporting various different types of cans. So when the machine returns there's an appropriate theme and story behind why it's stock changed.

There’s a mystery surrounding a house in my town. Supposedly, an old lady used to live there with her cats (9 of them). She passed away and no one knew as she was very reclusive. Nonetheless, the cats got hungry and… we’ll use your imagination. While it is confirmed she died there and had cats, the only evidence is the nine cat skeletons found in the house once they finally went inside.

The gnome one sounds like a prank that I’ve read about in “101 cool practical jokes”. Basically you take a friend’s favourite toy and give it to someone who is going on a holiday, or you can do it yourself, though your friend might guess that you’re playing a joke on them. Then, you give the person a bunch of envelopes and stamps so that they can send photos of the toy back to your friend. Whoever is sending the photos should write some kind of message at the back, like “Here I am at the Grand Canyon , wish you were here.” When the toy is brought back from holiday, place it outside your friend’s front door. This prank is called “Holiday Snaps”

Mystery meat: Possibly someone threw it, or maybe catapulted it. Pickles: A real-life Bubble Bass (thief) may have stolen it and the police kept bringing it back and the thief kept stealing it; an infinite steal-return chain. Hanging Honda: Cancelled mission to pull a seemingly crashed car up from the ground. After they found out the car was intact, they cancelled the mission. Leopold the Gnome: Maybe a world adventurer brought him around the world. The Leatherman's Corpse: May have been stolen by resurrection men. PK Kid graffiti: Maybe it really was Diego. Max Headroom hijack: TV hacker or fatal error. Maybe the Max Headroom face was a screensaver. The Potato Phantom: Maybe a man was mailing bowls of mashed potatoes for fun.

30 years ago on Thanksgiving I was making an Italian feast. (As we are Italian) Some of the family wanted turkey however, I didn't get one. Some of us were at the big bay window admiring the scene. When a huge package fell from the sky. Each one of us saw something different laying in the snow and sparse grass. I saw something like a trash bag. We ran out and it was a very big turkey. Note, we are the only home for a few miles and looking up you see sky. The family still speaks about it and to date no one has figured it out. Thank you for the wonderful content. Stay safe

I don't know if it happened in my life-time, but people still talk about it. A transient man was found dead near the train tracks in our town and never identified. If I had to guess when that happened I would say the 70's, because the earliest I heard the story was in my teens in the 80's. He didn't seem to have been a victim of foul play, nor had he been in an accident or was struck by or fell off a train. We don't know if he was jumping cars (that's hitching a ride). We sure he wasn't a local. I've always wondered if he had family that was looking for him. I have no idea what his age was and I'm not really sure what decade this happened. We talk about things that happened last century like they just happened last week here.

I live a large town or small city.. over the last 20-30 years we’ve had several homeless people drown in the creek that runs through our town. The odd thing is that many of these homeless people have been found with only the head neck and chest being under water. I personally believe that there is a serial killer in Rapid City, South Dakota. Targeting homeless people and drowning them in the creek and they call home. There has been 10+ drownings over the last 20-30 years all with the victim being found head and neck deep in a creek or small river with only their lower body exposed.
