One correction: Pension is available in TA if serves for 20 Years continuously. It includes your 90 days annual leaves. 2nd you can serves for whole year and till retirement age but 2 months is minimum optional requirement. Apply and hope for the best. You may be the next officer. Jai Hind

Dear aspirants, 1 month basic training is compulsory in TA. Additionally 2 months annual training is mandatory. Apart from this 2 months minimum service (not training) is mandatory as well. Adding this all, You will anyhow be serving 6-8 months in a year. If someone wants to serve full time, may even choose permanent embodiment.

Indian Army has three components: 1.Regular Army 2.Territorial Army 3. DSC. Concept of TA is part-time i.e 2 months ATC in a year. Beyond this if the org requirement is there then one can continue don the uniform more than 2 months also. First year the embodiment will be of about 6 months ( 1 month with unit +3 moths at TA School and 2 months at IMA). there is no pre commission trg in TA only post commission trg which can be completed within two years of service. There is requirement of TA offrs on permanent staff in the unit as well as in higher HQs. Although pay and allces are same as of RA yet there are differences in other facilities. To be eligible for pension one has to render minimum 20 yrs of embodied service out of total service in TA. So it is always better to start early. The difficulty level of TA written test is normal. One can prepare at one's own speed. And for PIB just be well informed. And finally SSB it is same as applicable to other entries in Indian Armed Forces. Good Luck and all the best. Dear sir, TA doesn't guarantee pension emoluments for it's personnels. Though you stand correct that on getting permanent commission, one is entitled for pension.

Embodiment can extended beyond 2 months ATC in a year, in disembodiment state certain nucleus staff is embodied on permanent staff for 3 to 5 yrs and roughly about 2 to 3 TA offrs are required for this in each unit. At any given time about 200 are required on permanent staff. Besides this one can be embodied other than permanent staff. Prior to 1986 there was no pension for TA but now roughly 85% TA personnel are going out with pension. So one should know what is what before going public.

Sir, again these things such as "Can be extended"/"May" be extended"/"possibly" be extended are doubtful terms. Moreover, Indian Army clearly states that Serving in Territorial Army do not guarantee pension and the same is subject to embodied service as per organisational requirement. Hence, you can't be sure enough to say whether or not the organization will have requirements from time to time. Lastly, with due respect & to avoid any confusion among the aspirants - a comment has already been pinned in the beginning. You may refer the same.
