Another nice video Chris, thanks for sharing. FWIW, I don’t blame the ‘mainstream media’ for the current situation, I blame the idiots that leave a mess everywhere and show no respect for landowners, other outdoor enthusiasts or the environment, by not following the simple ‘leave no trace’ mantra that we all do, and you have done so much to promote.

Thanks for watching mate, I think it's maybe a mix of both then? The people you mention plus the MSM not being able to differentiate between true "wild camping" and "trash camping" and not using correct terminology in their 'news reports' 👍

Yeah, I read that people had been getting their cars vandalised in the Peak District, after coming back to their car after a wildcamp - not good if true. Great walk out, with some great scrambling and I cannot believe how quiet it was. The Tower reminded me slightly of your Sharp Edge in the rain video (still one of my favourite videos). I do know what you man about conquering fears and although I have been over Sharp Edge 4 times, I still want to do it again (with the GoPro) but at 66, I hope I still have the head for it. The haunted forest looked really good to me and nice to go in and out between the forest and the Fells. I hope you enjoyed your redox bath 🛀. Cheers Alan

Totally agree with your take on the Media. I'm 57 now Chris and the vertigo thing is definitely age related in my opinion. Did Striding Edge last year and this year just to keep my hand in (a bit) but am feeling that's just about my comfort limit nowadays. Strangely I get more feelings of vertigo when I watch things in HD on screen etc than when I am actually there? Nice vid/ vlog as per usual.

I am funny with heights. Perfectly happy on my own at 17,5000 feet over the Cairngorms in a sailplane but hate being on a hill with a precipice. The feeling is more severe if I am with other people as I imagine they are going to fall. Getting back into a sailplane and I am totally relaxed and have done ridge runs waving to walkers as I pass by.

Last time I went in the Peaks the other week I felt like I may aswell of gone to Morrisons 🤣 I usually print off the sections of map of the area im going too if I dont have the actual full map, did it in my last few lake district hikes and lake district camp. Good idea I think 👌🏻 Loved that little blue tractor just sitting there haha, dont know why just looked cool lol. Great up Alport Castles you showed it off brilliantly 👍🏻👍🏻 Definitely gotta enforce LNT even more at the minute, me and a few others did a 14 mile circular round the Great Ridge / Kinder area and Edale Valley bank holiday weekend with litter pickers and bags. Got so much stuff off the floor, caught people wedging cans inbetween rocks and made them pick them up and carry them back down Jacobs Ladder, poo bags on the floor, the list goes on. Just dont get people I really dont. Glad you had a great walk mate and really hope all is well your end 🙏🏼👍🏻😊 Enjoy the rest of your weekend. ATB... Chris

You’re obviously not on your own with the vertigo thing. I’m now in my early 50s and I certainly don’t like the idea of taking risks anymore. Bit late to the party here😖. Been looking at alport castles for a camp and came upon your video. Can’t quite figure out where you started from, were you up by derwent res, past fairholmes.. or somewhere else🤷‍♂️. Thanks pal in advance

As we get older our centre of balance is meant to change, it's odd how we lose our head for heights. I was an industrial painter in the 80s, long before health and safety, we used to walk along girders 100 foot up and do all sorts of dodgy stuff looking back. 53 now and get vertigo on a thick carpet!! 😂. Not just that, when you've got kids and a phobia like that grips you, the first thing you think about is them. I reckon it's nature's way of prolonging your life to ensure the wellbeing of your offspring.

Lovely video Chris. Nowadays , just watching someone on a high edge makes me feel queasy Watching you at the top of the Tower made me feel uneasy and I totally get why you felt like you did. Discretion is the better part of valour. All the best mate.

Chris, I’m a former 24 year Paratrooper and I’m still not good with heights, in fact I don’t do them and avoid them where possible, so good on you to ‘’know your limitations’’ as many don’t and are the reason, the mountain and rescue teams are needed. Great video, some stunning coverage and enjoyed. Keep safe buddy, keep them coming.

Hag is the Saxon word for Way, path. Had my heart in my mouth watching you scrabbling up the chimney. I worry one day the idiot camper who have fires and leave them thus burning the moors will burn wild campers.

Oh yes I can empathise with your reluctance for taking risks....me the same as a younger man have a go at most things but as got older, (and my job a paramedic) I have become far more risk averse, I, rather my body has learned the consequences of falling from height can have , it would appear we are all programmed this way , probs an in built natural protection?

@@poofthemagicfaggon5022 Good point I think. I've only camped once in my life, and that was on a campsite on top of a Japanese mountain, with a cabin to buy drink and snacks, and they had proper toilets. Here in the UK, I'd like to be seen ( passing by ), just out for a hike and maybe a pub. I have my walking gear and small rucksack and just by seeing me, you'd think, yeah, hiker. But if I had a much bigger rucksack, then yeah, camper ( and not welcome ). So yeah I guess.

spot on about the mainstream media, everytime i drop into a conversation with people am thinking of wild camping a mountain i sense that 'looked down upon' rebuttle from them and im quite aware their whole knowledge of the subject is from 9 o clock news bbc one. its bad.

Witches, hags, Peregrine Falcons, Orc holes and the obligatory Meldrew rant. What’s not to like? I’m the same with exposure these days mate (45). I’ve been a climbing instructor, mountain leader, kayak instructor and all sorts. General Adrenalin nut as a youth with BMX/ skateboarding. Fearless, deranged nutter basically. 😆But I don’t know whether it’s age or having kids that just makes you more careful/ fearful/ respectful of dangers these days.
