MARCOS.. not many know about this lethal Indian Navy special force. Because they themselves never came out in any media. Reason being you are able to watch this video is because Recently Indian Navy has decided to let them go public and talk about the force and its training and its operations. Being a son of retired Navy officer I feel so proud and connected. Also I have stayed in the area for 3 years as my father was posted where MARCOS training centre is based.

Being a son of Indian Navy officer I grew up among these people and I knew about MARCOS involvement since 2008 but I agree normal civilain people didn't even know what MARCOS means forget knowing about their involvement. Indian Navy MARCOS are regularly involved in special operations in Kashmir since late 80's till today. But Indian Navy deliberately kept this force as one big secret and only recently Indian Navy PR team has decided to open up to people about them so that people learn and know about this lethal force which safeguards them secretly in shadows like a ghost

I say this respectfully and mean no disrespect to Indian police or military - I am a retired police commander from California in the US. I remember watching on the news how the incident was responded to, and I felt genuine anger and embarrassment at how Indian forces responded. Police officers actually RAN away from the danger, instead of running towards it. There was a lot of cowardice on display. When I used to teach active shooter response and tactics, one of the case studies was this incident and how to NOT do what was done there.

A soldier is a soldier on the inside whether he is active or retired. Never a civilian. I think our defence, needs to have special cards for retired defence men & women given by our government. These retired men & women can still work along with our defence organization. So that they can be involved in national security. We heard about NSG operations in 26/11 as they finished the mission. But hardly anyone knows about the marcos who were the first ones to tackle the terrorists.

The SOP for Breaching at night is to cut the power. Reason is very simple - Special forces, are equipped with vision devices. Not only do these work best in the dark, the opposition 9 times out of 10 doesnt have them. You Lay down a cordon so that no authorised personnel aren't in the vicinity to cause chaos and only after you are ready do you breach. You never use weapons like a frag grenade in a room where you are not certain of civilians being present, some might be injured. You never discharge a weapon without a target in your sights.
