My father served in IPKF (Assam Regiment). He called it the most dangerous engagement he ever had. Compared to Northeast and J&K where the police and administration is under the govt. Sri Lanka was the Wild West and the LTTE was really good at Counter Intelligence and many a times they became sitting ducks. Never forget at its height the IPKF had a 100 000 strong soldiers all from North Indian states like Punjab, UP, Haryana, Rajasthan (South Indian companies like the Madras regiment were forced by Sri Lankan government to go back to India as they did not want South Indians who might speak tamil speaking with Sri Lankan Tamils) stationed in Northern Sri Lanka. These 100 000 soldiers consistently lost and were beaten back and humiliated by less than 10 000 strong sri lankan tamil rebel groups. it was an international shame for India's military at the time, foreign press reported it as India's Vietnam despite have over 10x the soldiers +huge supply lines running from India and from Sri lankan government in south the IPKF did nothing but attack and harass Sri lankan tamil civilians which lead to rebel groups kicking them out of areas. This failure and humiliation to IPKF lead to huge reform in India's military resulting in the much stronger and competent and respected force we have today. Jai Hind! and big respect to Sri Lankan Tamils for not only fighting Indian forces but also larger Sri Lankan military forces for many years all alone.

But one night 2 Indian soldiers with turban armed and drunk came in temple trying to touch a girl but as she and people around challenged they opened fire on her chest and walked away from the area while she was bleeding 🩸 Thank god she survived and now living in Canada 🇨🇦 It happened in Jaffna Annaicoddai Vinayagar temple. I’m Sinhalese and I was born towards the end of the war (2003), the first school I went to had many Tamil kids and Tamil teachers as well as Sinhalese. I didn’t notice a thing, there was no racism or anything, maybe I was too young but I didn’t sense that at all given that the war had just ended, I even learnt Tamil in that school (I can’t speak it at all lol). Even today I have Tamil, Muslim and Sinhalese friends. I just hope that we respect each other and not fall into a useless war again. Love to all❤✌🏾🇱🇰

Never forget at its height the IPKF had a 100 000 strong soldiers all from North Indian states like Punjab, UP, Haryana, Rajasthan (South Indian companies like the Madras regiment were forced by Sri Lankan government to go back to India as they did not want South Indians who might speak tamil speaking with Sri Lankan Tamils) stationed in Northern Sri Lanka. These 100 000 soldiers consistently lost and were beaten back and humiliated by less than 10 000 strong sri lankan tamil rebel groups. it was an international shame for India's military at the time, foreign press reported it as India's Vietnam despite have over 10x the soldiers +huge supply lines running from India and from Sri lankan government in south the IPKF did nothing but attack and harass Sri lankan tamil civilians which lead to rebel groups kicking them out of areas. This failure and humiliation to IPKF lead to huge reform in India's military resulting in the much stronger and competent and respected force we have today. I was there at that horror time of my life. Thousand of them got raped and killed horribly. I am not talking about any LTTE or any other groups. Those were innocent civilians. ...they were put into the road and Armour's vehicle was driven on them..in Kokuvil and other places. It's a lifetime wound for our generation. Unforgettable... nightmares. Indian army killed so many doctors and nurses at the Jaffna main hospital. And more and more innocent people are killed. We already know about the Sinhala army but we did not expect from Peacekeeping Army from India supposed to be a good one to do horrible acts while it was there. Our generation experienced it. 😂😂 LTTE is not a hindu organization. Even Prabhakaran was born Hindu. But he hated Hinduism so much. He openly criticized caste system and cremation of dead bodies. LTTE was mainly supported by Christian and Catholic Tamils because they were lower caste Hindus because they converted to Catholicism by Portuguese Colonizers. Prabhakaran's closest friends were Catholics.

The Tamil people living in Sri Lanka are Sri Lankan Tamils, distinct from those in Tamil Nadu or Indian Tamils. I am one of those few people in Dehradun who know about this place and its connection with the LTTE. Shady sh*t is something which does happen here in this otherwise peaceful district. This is a lie .I have spent my childhood with a Tamil guy who were a soldier in LTTE. He was rehabilitated after war. We were used sit together play cricket and kitting. He was working with a sinhaleese person at a small restaurant type outlet.I spent my entire life within the war. The war was near to us within 15Km-30KM. But we never tortured or kicked him or those people away. The war was a geopolitical problem as this guy said. And our politician took it to keep the power within their grasp. And that guy is married now He has two children when I checked on him last time. I'm glad he has good life now.
