I was 8 when iPkf came. We had to sleep in temple night time to e be safe. But one night 2 Indian soldiers with turban armed and drunk came in temple trying to touch a girl but as she and people around challenged they opened fire on her chest and walked away from the area while she was bleeding 🩸 Thank god she survived and now living in Canada 🇨🇦 It happened in Jaffna Annaicoddai Vinayagar temple. I’m now 42 living in London I still remember 😢 As my leader Prabhakaran wasn’t against Indian or Srilankam people, all he wanted that Tamils can live peacefully but the whole world didn’t listen. I am so sorry to say Ranveer. This show was completely one sided. He failed to say what attrocoties the IPKF did to the local Jaffnas. Poor them they initially welcomed the Indian army with garlands and food. But IPKF did worse things than the Sri Lankan army did to the Jaffna locals. And that's why LTTE turned against the Indian army.

@@faizalmemon1947 i think it would’ve been ruff especially pre war on terror 90s U.S. military they were one of those insurgent groups that focused so much on training their cadres (even their child soldiers) were more akin to qualified soldiers than a rag tag militia, with a flexible chain of command fighting in their home terf in a friendly country where you couldn’t use heavy weapons because of possible civilian casualties I think we would’ve lost a lot of guys sort of like a longer version of Lebanon. Probably better than the Indians because the INC had kept army command divided and double game with RAW which gave the ltte a intimate knowledge of the Indian army. But still it would’ve been a nightmare lol

My father served in IPKF (Assam Regiment). He called it the most dangerous engagement he ever had. Compared to Northeast and J&K where the police and administration is under the govt. Sri Lanka was the Wild West and the LTTE was really good at Counter Intelligence and many a times they became sitting ducks. My father said LTTE had the guts they didn't give a damn if we were Indian Army. Some still call it "India's Vietnam".

As a Tamil who living in north Jaffna, I could explain more what did this Indian (peace) keeping soldiers in our villages. They rapped our own sisters, mothers even pregnant women also. Never forget at its height the IPKF had a 100 000 strong soldiers all from North Indian states like Punjab, UP, Haryana, Rajasthan (South Indian companies like the Madras regiment were forced by Sri Lankan government to go back to India as they did not want South Indians who might speak tamil speaking with Sri Lankan Tamils) stationed in Northern Sri Lanka. These 100 000 soldiers consistently lost and were beaten back and humiliated by less than 10 000 strong sri lankan tamil rebel groups. it was an international shame for India's military at the time, foreign press reported it as India's Vietnam despite have over 10x the soldiers +huge supply lines running from India and from Sri lankan government in south the IPKF did nothing but attack and harass Sri lankan tamil civilians which lead to rebel groups kicking them out of areas. This failure and humiliation to IPKF lead to huge reform in India's military resulting in the much stronger and competent and respected force we have today. Jai Hind! and big respect to Sri Lankan Tamils for not only fighting Indian forces but also larger Sri Lankan military forces for many years all alone.

My mother is still traumatized, whenever she hears a flight sound she gets scared , and she was 8 year old kid during that time and she experienced how would a battle field looks like as a normal person and she always cries on my lap sometimes because Indian army shot her friend in front of her. But even though she didn't hate India bcoz after all this ,she came to India (Tamil Nadu,Chennai) by sea route and gave birth to me there in 2004 and lived there for 18 years ,now I'm 19 and living in Sri Lanka ,technically i should be an Indian ,but Indian government didnt provide me the citizenship just bcoz im ethically Sri lankan tamil ,all these years I thought i was an Indian, just imagine how i would feel right now, born and raised in India for 18 years and now im living in sri lanka ,that doesn't mean i hate Sri lanka but India is my mother...

I’m Sinhalese and I was born towards the end of the war (2003), the first school I went to had many Tamil kids and Tamil teachers as well as Sinhalese. I didn’t notice a thing, there was no racism or anything, maybe I was too young but I didn’t sense that at all given that the war had just ended, I even learnt Tamil in that school (I can’t speak it at all lol). People in India always point out that the LTTE killed former Indian PM....but they shud also understand that the sam Rajiv Gandhi ordered assassination of Prabhakaran many times. Famously he one time ordered to kill Prabhakaran while he came for a meeting with the Indian Army but the Indian counterpart rejected the PM's proposal. The moment you ordered to murder someone, the other person has the same right to kill you. Only issue was during the assassination so many innocent civilians were killed. This same Rajiv Gandhi famously said "it is normal that the earth shakes when a huge banyan tree falls" to the killing of Sikhs in Delhi to avenge the assassination of Indira Gandhi. Never forget at its height the IPKF had a 100 000 strong soldiers all from North Indian states like Punjab, UP, Haryana, Rajasthan (South Indian companies like the Madras regiment were forced by Sri Lankan government to go back to India as they did not want South Indians who might speak tamil speaking with Sri Lankan Tamils) stationed in Northern Sri Lanka. These 100 000 soldiers consistently lost and were beaten back and humiliated by less than 10 000 strong sri lankan tamil rebel groups. it was an international shame for India's military at the time, foreign press reported it as India's Vietnam despite have over 10x the soldiers +huge supply lines running from India and from Sri lankan government in south the IPKF did nothing but attack and harass Sri lankan tamil civilians which lead to rebel groups kicking them out of areas. This failure and humiliation to IPKF lead to huge reform in India's military resulting in the much stronger and competent and respected force we have today. Jai Hind! and big respect to Sri Lankan Tamils for not only fighting Indian forces but also larger Sri Lankan military forces for many years all alone.

People like Nadesan who was a sri lankan police married to a sinhala joined the ltte overnight after seeing the atrocities committed by sinhala mobs towards tamils. Our biggest mistake as a nation that we have not teach regional languages of other states in school . Their must be at least 5 languages. This will help us know the concerns of other state. The best result will be we would have better choice to vote.

India lost a natural allay a Tamil Eelam nation in Indian Ocean by not having any forecasting vision about external affairs like.. strategic location of Srilanka island and it's doublestandards with china / Pak / usa friendship. Tamil Eelam is essential to protect the interests of India in Indian Ocean

Many Indians think srilankan tamils came from india. But real fact is they had separate kingdom (jaffna kingdom) until European arrive srilanka. Srilankan tamil have 2300 year of own history in srilanka.

most of indian Tamil are thinking Jaffna Tamils are their brothers but reality is too far . the sri lanka Jaffna tamils are more caste then Indian Tamil . as an example this is my personal experience when tamils living estate aria (tea plantation workers ) visit to Jaffna for trip , the Jaffna tamils don't care to provide any facilities even glass of water, their toilets etc so actual situation is so different

@@akalankalokubogahawatta they came from Tamil Nadu and Sinhalas came from Orissa and West Bengal. Tamilians spoke Tamil and Sinhalese spoke Elu Prakrit which later became Sinhala. Saying this as a neutral commentor from a South Indian state other than Tamil Nadu.

Jaffna kingdom belonged to aryachakravarti dynasty who were from Rameswaram. Although there was no definitive boundary back then because both the sides off Rameswaram were Tamil, in modern geography it's Tamil Nadu, India.
