I wrote What a Meeting in the Air in 1987. I had been diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma and was likely to die. At that time quite a few college students were HIV positive and likely to die as well. I read about a young bi-sexual man at Stanford who talked about having more than 1,000 partners. He was a brilliant intellectual but he was dying and had no hope. By contrast I was likely to die young but I had hope!
