My highschool wrestling coach had been coaching for nearly 20 years back in 2009 when I was a senior. I asked him when he was gonna stop and he said when his youngest graduates in 2013. Hes still coaching. For me wrestling was something I was pretty good at and something I did as a seasonal thing and with an occasional off season clinic. This guy was great and it was a way of life for him. He was our hs p.e coach and he would ways be watching wrestling videos when he didnt have classes. He traveled all around the country to go to seminars and tournaments to see and experience new takes and philosophies on the sport. For some people it's a way of a way of life

@@Dragondude30 You have to remember these are KIDS that have super fast recovery times. They are in the stride of puberty and they do in fact recover quick enough. If they are in their 30s your talking a different story.. but a bunch of high school/college kids under 25 years have plenty of hormones to recover. And the main thing in wrestling is not building muscle, its getting in shape and being able to outlast out gut the other guy. Most muscular wrestlers get winded and if they don't win in the first round they will most likely not win. I have seen it many times, this big strong ripped guy gets stuck in the third buy a guy with a layer of fat and not nearly as strong..

I think his approach was the issue. He should never be able to keep up with cejudo becuase cejudo is much smaller. But you hear the coach tell him speed is important but the form of keeping his feet together his more important. His focus should have been on keeping proper form all the way through and going slower than cejudo

Imagine pushing past boundaries over and over. Each time topping the last… just when you think you’re going to give up you go the distance, 1 minute more, 1 rep more because that’s what it takes to win gold. I can only imagine the physical and mental breakthroughs alone that you have to overcome…. I run into trouble once I hit that mental block and my body wants to give in… idk how these men do it (lol probably because I’m a woman) You can’t do that when you have 20 seconds on the clock and you’re down by 1-2 points. Those last few excruciating pushes can make the biggest difference in your game.
