Actually, I never expected anything else. It was an interview of Terry about Expandables and his attitude and how he shifted it during the movies. He talked about how he was unhappy that his character had little screentime and few lines so he didn't give it 100%. And he was miserable and made others miserable. And then he thought back at his beginning in the movie industry and flipped a switch. gave it 110% and that's how he does everything now. Or, in the immortal words of philosopher Ron Swanson: Never half ass two things. Whole ass one thing.

What Josh and Sean do well, and Sean talks about this in his interview of Alexa Chung who inspired The Hot Ones interview format with her The Big Ones interviews, is their format is specifically designed to knock celebrities out of their media training. I think once their minds are no longer following their training, it opens up the space for more human natural conversations. A lot of interviews are either promotional or just trying to get scoops out of celebrities and thus follow the same format celebrities are trained for; so it ends up feeling pretty transactional and repetitive. I think what Sean does well is try to highlight great things about his interviewees; so people can learn something about the actual human being interviewed. I think Josh does this as well, but instead of trying to highlight great things about them, he'll highlight moments about their life where their humanity is a large part the story. Amelia also does pretty well getting a human interaction with her guests by being intentionally awkward and framing the interview as a date, but I feel like I don't really learn much about the celebrities in her interviews since there's no space to get into a deep conversation.

100% this was an absolute DREAM interview for Josh. As someone who worked out as a coping mechanism and sort of "identity" even before he discovered his career passion, I feel like Josh has such a kinship with Terry and his background of poverty, uncertainty, insecurity, and eventual triumph and finding meaning. Great interview, Terry is so incredible.

Terry Crews has to be one of the most unexpectedly inspirational celebs I’ve ever seen. He ofc played football, but he really came into the public eye after some comedy films, and ofc being in everybody hates Chris. I always saw him as a goofy actor, but he just so happens to be this vulnerable, outspoken and effortlessly inspiring.

This is my favorite episode. I didn't skip a single topic. It was so relatable and I felt like Terry was being 100% authentic and candid...when he didn't have to. He doesn't owe anyone anything but he gave so much in this conversation. I wish I could confront my Mom and have the results Terry had. She wouldn't be receptive of it....she probably would never be. I feel like I can't tell her about my life at all.

Honestly, the last question asked to everyone who is invited to Last Meals - "Are you happy?" It's such a powerful question, and when us, the audience hears a quick and positive response on it, I think I can speak for the most of us that it's a small sense of motivation and immediately puts a smile on your face. You immediately look up to this person a lot more within a second. It does have an impact on us watching. These interviews are curated so well.

I would have thought an interview show couldn’t get better than Hot Ones. The absolute depth and personal reflection that these interviews get into is so therapeutic for everyone involved including us, the audience. I could definitely see the emotion on Josh’s face as Terry was talking about his dad. It really struck him hard and deep. By far the best interview show and concept ever concocted. And Josh definitely learned from Johnny Carson by just letting his guest talk.

I have felt very weak and cowardly the last several months of my life. Felt like I've been doing everything wrong and that I have no hope for myself. This interview and Terry's talk of self fulfillment and knowing how to act for the greater-good of yourself but also those you care most about is utterly empowering. I still feel I have a long way to go, but this man's words as he indulges on some ribs and smoothies is something I hope can change me as a person and as a man. Thanks Terry.

You're the opposite of cowardly. You being able to vocalize that and putting yourself out there proves you are earnest, and earnesty involves a vulnerability, which then follows a necessity of bravery. I'm sorry you're going through a lot, but hang in there. As cliche as it sounds: In the darkest of night lives the brightest star. You got this :) I believe in you!
