@TypicalAqua42762 жыл бұрын
@@modus8256 what you talking about, winners are almost never singers. Dustin tarvel(magician), brandon leake(poet), kodi lee(yes a singer but come on that was definitely deserved), shin lim(magician), darcy linn(vantriloquist), grace vanderwall(singer), paul zerdin(vantriloquist), matt franco(magician), the one before that was that dancer, the one before that was the dog act. I absolutely love how at 18:23 when Johnny Vegas says "I get half" out of the blue, you can see Terry does not instantly react (like how a person should because it takes a split second for them to process). He literally appears to be still in thought when the puppet says the line, and I bet it takes some conscious effort not to simultaneously react because he already knows the punchline. These little things contribute so much to the illusion of autonomy.
@Nikolaj11 Жыл бұрын
Really, I thought it was a very clever way for him to break the tension. You can tell that he's almost too emotional to respond to the question he was posed but getting his puppet to break in for him clearly helped him clear whatever nerves was blocking his immediate response in that moment. Really shows how much of a talented performer he is I think.

I know i've commented on here multiple times, but he's my fav AGT contestant. He deserves more recognition as he's, by far, the most successful contestant to come out of AGT. Anyway, I found an article which Piers Morgan wrote last year about Simon Cowell, and he started the article off talking about Terry Fator. As creator and executive producer of AGT, Simon held the rights to manage Terry's career as winner of AGT. However, Simon didn't think he'd make serious money off a middle aged ventriloquist so Simon let him go. Afterwards, Terry landed his first Vegas deal at the Hilton. I believe it ran for a year. The Mirage then offered him the huge 5 year, $100 million contract that has been renewed a few times. Terry has been performing in Vegas ever since for 10 years. Ironically, Terry also wrote a book entitled: Who's the Dummy Now? Obviously, Piers said Simon is the dummy for letting Terry go. Of course, Simon is not too thrilled he wasn't part of the Vegas deal. LOL I think that story is funny. Simon didn't make money off Terry, and he's been uber successful. You can bet that Simon will not make the same mistake again. I think it's evident in the way Simon judges that he's more open to acts that don't fit into the standard "appeal to the 15-34 age group" that Simon made a career of in the entertainment business.

I saw Terry a week after he won America's Got Talent at the Lakeland Theater in Florida. Such a down to earth and modest man. After the show at Lakeland he went in the lobby and signed autographs. I was last in the line with my other half to get an autograph and he stayed and talked to us for over half an hour. Very memorable experience.

I think the first few performances are particularly entertaining because he isn't just coming out and impersonating a singer. He has some dialogue with the puppet. The impersonations seem more remarkable when they're in the context and contrast of other voices. Any individual voice impersonation is decent, but what makes it amazing is being able to transition between them. I'd like to see Terry's rendition of, "We Are the World"

How many people started crying when Kermit showed up...because we knew who we were really missing and who really was Terry’s idol. Kermit just made it even more obvious who we miss. But dammit, why not Rainbow Connection?? Or “It’s not Easy Being Green”???

zenfrodo so Terry could sing as Satchmo, himself.

@@huchlvr I think zenfrodo was referring to the end of the video where Kermit actually showed up

The song "You've Got A Friend" came out in 1971...46 years ago and all ages in the audience were singing along. I'm glad I grew up when all the good music was new to watch it last decade after decade. ( I know this video is about 2007 AGT )

Have a friend who frequently visits Vegas. Shortly after Terry signed on to do shows in Vegas, this friend of mine attended his show. He said it was the best show in Vegas.

Terry is not only talented but also humble and modest. He looks a bit like Ricky Gervais and his 'Johnny Vegas' puppet who 'did' Tony Bennett looks like Britain's former Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

He sounds like Rob Schneider though.

So glad that a Texas son won AGT! Wish I had known that when he was originally on. And you guys thought a Texan couldn't do Country and Western ? Really ? REALLY ???

Watching this guy sometimes I forget that the puppets are just that puppets. He does it so well that they take on a life on their own. Amazing.

The incredible variety of his impression s are amazing, and to do it as a ventriloquist, he deserves all his success.

His singing voice by itself is so beautiful, but add in ventriloquist and wow. Very talented.
