I seriously think Terry Gilliam is one of the most underrated directors of all time. It's unfortunate how producers prefer to promote shitty moneymaking vehicles as opposed to actual art.

Best director ever. At least for me. To hell with Hollywood, Terry. They should hand him blank checks.

I admire him so much. A filmmaker who is still going after tremendous hard times in the industry, a lesser filmmaker would have thrown in the towel long ago in his shoes. He is the director future generations to look as an example .

Terry made Brazil and The Fisher King and Twelve Monkeys. Oh yes, and he was the man that adapted my favourite book 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas' into film. I stand in awe of this man's achievements.

I remember seeing Time Bandits when I was a young lad of about seven, and it had a profound and lasting impact on me in a very positive and amazing way. I've been a dedicated fan of his films ever since. THANK YOU, Mr. Gilliam, thank you for being who you are and doing what you do. The world is all the more better for it. My world is, anyway.

My first movie that I saw by Gilliam that I can recall was Brazil at 8 or 9 years old, without knowing the name, and I loved it, even though I didn't understand all the context of it. The imagery stayed with me so much that many years later in college, i was able to track down the movie based on my vague memories, and then everything clicked in my understanding. I have been a huge Gilliam fan ever since.

As a giant Potterhead, I can only imagine how things would have been if Gilliam had got that job. I do love all the movies but definitely agree with him that Prisoner of Azkaban is the only one that gets close to an actual piece of cinematic art, as Cuarón really brought a freshness to the franchise. And yes, it was obvious Gilliam wouldn't get the job as the executives wanted a safer choice, but upon reading Harry Potter: Page to Screen we can see that he was Rowling's first and favorite choice (after she got rid of Spielberg!). Although I'm not sure whether we would have got the 8 movies in the end if he was the one to start the franchise... maybe audiences wouldn't get so well his vision given his movies are not really targeted to the blockbuster level, and thus later Potter films wouldn't be done? Maybe we'd get an entire Gilliamnesque franchise that would gather a cult following? Only God knows that, but damn, it would have been definitely different. Maybe more interesting, but the way Harry Potter is seen in popular culture would be something completely unimaginable. And as a giant Potterhead who also happens to be a huge Python fan, I can only imagine as well how cool it would have been if more Pythons were involved in the movies. Fuck, even if they were secondary roles. I can actually imagine Michael Palin or Eric Idle taking on professor roles, or even in the Ministry of Magic (I can also imagine Graham Chapman perfectly within the Potter universe, which makes me even sadder that he's dead). John Cleese's role in Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets was so small that I actually get frustrated upon seeing it. Oh well, one can only dream...

half the potter films are underrated as hell. Half blood prince and hallows part 1 are really really good and definitely pieces of cinematic art imo. And the first two captured the books very well, Gilliams would have been very good obviously but Columbus' are timeless, especially with the new 4K prints, they and the films have aged so well. 3 6 7 are my fav and all great.

I like some aspects of Synders adaptation of Watchman the cinematography is beautiful it's just the acting I found it hard to believe them it's kind of a mixed bag the intro is stellar job but to be honest Watchman is best enjoyed when the graphic novel is read but it would have been a better mini series Gilman would have done a good job but it wouldn't be the graphic novel...

What’s with the Brits constantly saying ‘sort of’. It’s like this inability to actually own anything you’re saying and sounds ill-confident. Similar to when people say ‘you’ in the general sense to describe an experience they had personally, but don’t have the nut to take ownership and just say ‘I’. Own your ideas and your questions guys, it will make you bolder and more confident.
