He does make very intelligent films, and that's because he is intelligent, and observant, and courageous, and not because he sits down, trying to be intelligent. That's the wonder of true art: you find some kind of metaphor, or visual equivalent, to some deep truth, and once you've put it down and lean back to watch it in silent ... it starts revealing more and more insights ... thanks very much for posting, made good listening while painting.

Totally with Gilliam on the net subject...Bring it up with friends ,now and then,myself having formed a long standing relationship through distance, waiting for letters, sending tapes of our voices and songs (sentimentally)written to woo her......Time to be alone...missing now with instant re-assurance through a cyber 'connection' Is there nowhere where we are not welcome! Look forward to seeing his film...Sure to have his Quixotic message in there somewhere as he has done on over 90% of his films...Let's hope he can finally finish what was documented in 'Lost In La Mancha' Or maybe he should never finish it.....and keep Don Quixote in various guises in films to come.....

Gilliam made my all time favourite movie: Fear and loathing in Las Vegas! :D But I would give all his other movies 10/10. Except for Time Bandits, 9/10.

zero theorem has powerful moments and moments that are without enough development. overall i enjoyed the film, but its not as coherent as gilliam;s other films. that said, it was really great to see gilliam talk about the film in this video, partially because gilliam is such an intriguing speaker, and also because it sheds some light on the film.

I've read comments like this numerous times about Zero Theorem, but this is easily my favourite Gilliam film. I've probably watched it 10+ times now and still enjoying it & seeing new things. For you which parts were not well developed?

I'm a big fan of his work in general with the occasional miss that might be great but wasn't for me. Zero Theorem was a hit but two things niggled me a little. It felt like it needed just a little more care on the visual effects which took me out of the movie a few times thinking they weren't really seamless like we've come to expect nowadays. The other thing is a bit abstract but I think Terry is stuck in time and playing with ideas around that time. So what worked great in Brazil now seems odd as the world moved on. It's hard to put my finger on. A bit like if you read Snow Crash now by Neil Stephenson, the whole virtual reality stuff with avatars feels wrong because we just didn't really go there and abandoned that whole idea. Reamde his next sci-fi novle seemed to address this with much more up to date ideas that work now. Terry Gilliam is still in the Snow Crash world and doesn't care. I'm ok with that, it just keeps on being something I notice during Zero Theorem, maybe just my hang up then.

Clay Mann Yeah, I think he could have adjusted the theme of Zero to make it more suited to people attatched to their phones, games, TV, & such instead of making another bueracracy parallel.

Clay Mann On second thought, this one he didn't write. I believe the writer was just a fan of his work and that's why it's similar to Brazil (but shiny instead of dull).

Not his best, even the lead looks bored, confused and slightly embarrassed to be seen there .. (the way i felt in the cinema watching it). .. as he said himself .. bad script, they were just making it up as they went along .. and you can tell.

СЛУЖИТЬ БОЖЬЕМУ СЛОВУ это значит , каждым КАДРОМ, РЕПЛИКОЙ, КУПЛЕТОМ и т.п. "ПРИВОДИТЬ" НАС, ЗРИТЕЛЕЙ, СЛУШАТЕЛЕЙ к ПОКАЯНИЮ, СПАСЕНИЮ ДУШИ, и соответственно наоборот, максимально удалять от него. МЕРЗКОЕ сатанинское КИНО. ДЬЯВОЛЬСКАЯ НАСМЕШКА, а почему надо понимать следующие. НО СНАЧАЛА. То как показан В ФИЛЬМЕ Господь наш Иисус Христос, это обычное мелкопакостное БОГОХУЛЬСТВО(ХУЛА НА ДУХА СВЯТОГО). НО БОГА ОБИДЕТЬ НЕ ВОЗМОЖНО. ОН БЕССТРАСТЕН. А вот ХУЛА ЕГО это БОЛЬШОЙ ГРЕХ. А ГРЕХ это РАНА которую человек наносит прежде всего сам СВОЕЙ ДУШЕ. РАНА которая ОТКРЫВАЕТ ДУШУ ДЛЯ ДЕМОНОВ МУЧИТЕЛЕЙ, БЕСОВ разных ПОРОЧНЫХ СТРАСТЕЙ, слуг дьявола. САМ же ФИЛЬМ прежде всего НАМЕРЕННО «РАЗЖИГАЕТ», но В ДУШАХ самих ЗРИТЕЛЕЙ, действие таких СТРАШНЫХ ПОРОЧНЫХ СТРАСТЕЙ как ПОХОТЬ, ЧРЕВОУГОДИЕ, ТЯГА К АЛКОГОЛЮ, ЛЮБОСТЯЖАНИЕ. А ЭТО всё ГРЕХИ. И ВОТ ТАК, ОГРОМНОЕ БОЛЬШИНСТВО ЛЮДЕЙ, ВОЛЬНО ИЛИ НЕ ВОЛЬНО СОГРЕШАЮТ (не вольно значит что, грех только у себя в уме, под действием той или иной порочной страсти, является таким же грехом), И ДЬЯВОЛ «ВВОДИТ» В ДУШУ человека БЕСОВ и ДЕМОНОВ МУЧИТЕЛЕЙ разных ПОРОЧНЫХ СТРАСТЕЙ, и полностью завладевает ей. А ПОЧЕМУ НАСМЕШКА. ГЛАВНЫЙ ГЕРОЙ в фильме часто УПОМИНАЕТ О неких СУЩНОСТЯХ, и ГОВОРИТ О СЕБЕ УПОТРЕБЛЯЯ местоимение МЫ. Так вот в реальной жизни эти сущности ЭТО И ЕСТЬ ДЕМОНЫ МУЧИТЕЛИ, которые со временем полностью подчиняют себе человека, и он начинает о себе говорить мы. А в итоге «ОБЩЕНИЕ» человека в жизни С любым ДЕМОНОМ, «ПРИВОДИТ» только к одному, или К ПСИХИЧЕСКОМУ РАССТРОЙСТВУ, или САМОУБИЙСТВУ, или УБИЙСТВУ. И к АДУ для ДУШИ после физической СМЕРТИ тела. И вот как БЫЛО БЫ ХОРОШО, ЧТОБЫ КАЖДЫЙ зритель ПОНИМАЛ это. НО ЭТО очень «тонкие» моменты , ПОНЯТЬ которые МОЖНО будет ТОЛЬКО ЧИТАЯ, И ГЛАВНОЕ, ИЗУЧАЯ КНИГУ ЖИЗНИ, СВЯТОЕ ЕВАНГЕЛИЕ. Да и ПОРОЧНЫЕ СТРАСТИ это ГОРДЫНЯ, ТЩЕСЛАВИЕ, ЛУКАВСТВО, СЕБЯЛЮБИЕ, ТРУСОСТЬ, ЧЕЛОВЕКОУГОДИЕ, ЗАВИСТЬ, ЖАДНОСТЬ, ОСУЖДЕНИЕ, АЛЧНОСТЬ, СКУПОСТЬ, СРЕБРОЛЮБИЕ, ЛИЦЕМЕРИЕ, УНЫНИЕ, ЧРЕВОУГОДИЕ, ГНЕВ, РЕВНОСТЬ, ВОРОВСТВО, РАЗДРАЖЕНИЕ, ВЛАСТОЛЮБИЕ, ПОХОТЬ, ЛЮБОПЫТСТВО, ПЬЯНСТВО, КУРЕНИЕ, ПРЕЛЮБОДЕЯНИЕ, ОБИДЧИВОСТЬ, ЗАСТЕНЧИВОСТЬ, ХИТРОСТЬ, РАССЕЯННОСТЬ и т.д. и т.п. И у КАЖДОГО ЧЕЛОВЕКА своя(СТРАСТЬ), так сказать, ЛИЧНАЯ. И ЭТО всё БОЛЕЗНИ, но БОЛЕЗНИ ДУХОВНОГО ПЛАНА. А ПОЧЕМУ мы ВСЕ БОЛЬНЫ. После ГРЕХОПАДЕНИЯ АДАМА и ЕВЫ они были ИЗГНАНЫ ИЗ РАЯ. ДО грехопадения они ЖИЛИ В РАЮ подобно АНГЕЛАМ. После, БОГ одел их в «одежды» что значит в тела, и ДАЛ ЗАПОВЕДЬ «ПЛОДИТЕСЬ и РАЗМНОЖАЙТЕСЬ» и заселяйте Землю. НО для размножения, В ПОЛОВЫЕ ОТНОШЕНИЯ ПРИХОДИЛОСЬ ВСТУПАТЬ БРАТУ С СЕСТРОЙ. И ЭТО было вызвано необходимостью а НЕ ПОХОТЬЮ. И ВОТ ПОЧЕМУ КАЖДЫЙ рождающийся ребёнок уже ГРЕШЕН. Только не физическое(физическое если вызвано похотью, между родными братьями и сёстрами), а так называемое ПЕРВОРОДНОЕ (ДУХОВНОЕ , ПРИЧИНА которого ГРЕХОПАДЕНИЕ) ПОВРЕЖДЕНИЕ(ГРЕХ, ПОРОЧНАЯ СТРАСТЬ) НА КАЖДОМ человеке при рождении. И У КАЖДОГО человека своя СОБСТВЕННАЯ СТРАСТЬ. И ЭТО БОЛЕЗНЬ, но БОЛЕЗНЬ прежде всего ДУХОВНОГО ПЛАНА. И именно ПОРОЧНЫЕ СТРАСТИ людей являются ПРИЧИНОЙ ВСЕХ БЕД, СТРАДАНИЙ, и РАЗРУШИТЕЛЬНЫХ ДЕЙСТВИЙ на Земле. А вот условия ОСВОБОЖДЕНИЯ ОТ этого ПЕРВОРОДНОГО ГРЕХА(ПОВРЕЖДЕНИЯ, СТРАСТИ) как раз и ЗАПИСАНЫ в КНИГЕ ЖИЗНИ, СВЯТОМ ЕВАНГЕЛИЕ. НО СНАЧАЛА , чтобы донести их людям, сам СЫН, БОГ СЛОВО ВОЧЕЛОВЕЧИЛСЯ(ИИСУС ХРИСТОС, имя ИИСУС означает СПАСИТЕЛЬ). А ЕГО за это РАСПЯЛИ. Но ОСТАЛОСЬ СВЯТОЕ ЕВАНГЕЛИЕ. Вот ЭТО и есть БОЖЕСТВЕННЫЕ УСЛОВИЯ , во первых ИЗБАВЛЕНИЯ ОТ ПЕРВОРОДНОГО ГРЕХА(а правильней сказать от ПОВРЕЖДЕНИЯ), И во вторых ДЛЯ СПАСЕНИЯ ДУШИ человеческой, ПОЛУЧЕНИЯ ЖИЗНИ ВЕЧНОЙ для ДУШИ, ПОСЛЕ физической СМЕРТИ тела , В ЦАРСТВИЕ НЕБЕСНОМ. И поэтому ИСТИННАЯ ВЕРА В БОГА, в первую очередь ЗАКЛЮЧАЕТСЯ В «БОРЬБЕ» каждого ЧЕЛОВЕКА, ПРИ ЗЕМНОЙ ЖИЗНИ, СО своими собственными ПОРОЧНЫМИ СТРАСТЯМИ, И только ТАК можно получить СПАСЕНИЕ для своей ДУШИ. Ну И ЕСЛИ каждый человек захочет "БОРОТЬСЯ" СО своими ПОРОЧНЫМИ СТРАСТЯМИ , ТО для начала, НУЖНО ПОВЕРИТЬ В БОГА, ПРЕСВЯТУЮ ТРОИЦУ: ОТЦА(СОЗДАТЕЛЯ ВСЕГО ЖИВОГО И НЕ ЖИВОГО, ВИДИМОГО мира и НЕ ВИДИМОГО),через СЫНА БОГА СЛОВО(ИИСУСА ХРИСТА), СВЯТОГО ДУХА. А ЧТОБЫ "ПРИЙТИ" к БОГУ или ПОЗНАТЬ БОГА необходимо ПОКАЯНИЕ. Ну А для того ЧТОБЫ ПОНЯТЬ ВСЁ что написано выше , И для ИСКРЕННЕГО ХРИСТИАНСКОГО ПОКАЯНИЯ, которое необходимо УСПЕТЬ(потому что ВРЕМЕНИ осталось очень МАЛО, возможно даже ПРИМЕРНО 4 МЕСЯЦА, И ВСЁ(смотри СВЯТОЕ ЕВАНГЕЛИЕ от МАТФЕЯ, ГЛ. 24)) СДЕЛАТЬ при ЗЕМНОЙ ЖИЗНИ ЧЕЛОВЕКА, ПЕРВЫМ "шагом" БУДЕТ (и как об этом уже упоминалось выше) ЧТЕНИЕ и ГЛАВНОЕ, ИЗУЧЕНИЕ КНИГИ ЖИЗНИ, СВЯЩЕННОГО ПИСАНИЯ НОВЫЙ ЗАВЕТ. ✋🏻
