Jack Lambert was know as one of the toughest guys in the NFL. However, Terry Hanratty wasn't going to let Lambert get away with that attitude as a rookie. Photos courtesy of the Pittsburgh Steelers

I remember Hanratty throwing a bomb. It seemed to me he loved throwing the ball deep.

Hilarious. The best practical jokes take a while to set up!

Hanratty used to eat egg salad sandwiches on the sidelines. Saw that on camera.

I have two players who were Steelers, who are my favorite. Jack Lambert, Troy Polamalu.

Only the quarterback and (maybe) the coach could have gotten away with that!

since he couldn't do anything to his own QB, Lambert took it out on every other teams QB. There's video to prove it too! lol

You're 100% correct about that! Lambert once said, "Maybe they should put a skirt on the quarterback to distinguish from real players." Thanks for listening and please subscribe (it's free) to be alerted about future two-minute features that I will be posting. Thanks again!

Yes 😂, like that time I was watching them play Cleveland around the time of their Super Bowl win against Vince Ferragamo and Jack Youngblood . Brian Sipe ran out of bounds to avoid Lambert in hot pursuit. He was about 3 yard's clearly past the out of bounds line and Lambert blasted him right in front of the Cleveland coaches and players on Cleveland s bench. Which immediately caused the bench to clear and became a mini free for all. He got 15 yards and they ejected him. 😂😅😂😅

A guy like Jack would never fit into the Browns goodboy club.

I thought he was gonna say that he sawed the leg on the stool so that it broke when he got on it.

little known twist to this story, hanratty beat bradshaw for number qb spot in training camp, but after this water stunt, lambert benched hanratty and made bradshaw the starter--the rest is history--and noll never had a vote, he was terrified of jack lol

Hanratty sounds like he took a few too many hits to the head. He's very fortunate that none of those were delivered by Jack Lambert.

I don’t believe the story. Real life isn’t a knock knock joke. Four days in a row, call bullshit didn’t happen

Smart??? He read EVERY coverage out there and won 4 Super Bowls! I'd say that's pretty intelligent.

USA Citizen Try telling that to a young Jack Lambert trying to make the Steelers roster as a rookie. Hey Jack, remember, there is more to life then football. It all depends on your windows of life and his at this moment was all about making the team. To you and I, I couldn't agree more. But then again my football career ended after 4 years as starting QB at UNC. I learned there is more... Semper Fidelis my friend.
