No it wasn't. It was written by a French composer and translated to English. It was a dying man saying goodbye to his friend ,a priest

@@SpiritofaGrandmother, I heard it was written for a cheating friend who cheated on his friend (the writer) with his gf/wife. Either way, it's a powerful message/reminder

My dad played this and other songs to me when he knew he was dying. I have a whole playlist because he didn’t know how to tell me, a five year old , his daughter. 💔I’ve been so ill for a year. I’ve been praying that he comes to get me. I had a dream last night. He opened a glass door and looked at me and held the door, and I walked in and he walked outside. I hope it’s a sign that he’s coming. I miss him so much. I can’t wait to see you again. Dad 🙏🏼💜

This is a great song....until you loose a mate (loved one). It makes me want to cry. My wife Karen was 5 years older then I was before she died. I greatly miss her. We met on a blind date June 30th 1989. It was set up through a mutual friend and their spouse. Karen and I had 2 girls and they last count had 5 children. We got married March 14th 1991, first child born June 4th 1992 2nd born February 16 1995. Last count we have 5 grandchildren.

My parents used to be friends with him and I remember going to his house as a child for dinner a lot. I had my picture taken with him once and my mom said, “One day you’ll get why this is really cool and special.” Obviously I didn’t at the time cause he was just a dude we were friends with, but now I know what it actually meant and I’m glad I have it ☺️

@@user-op9mv5lq1u I put this song up there with Aerosmith's Dream On...not because they are similar, because they took you on a musical journey. Both were released in the early 70's, a time that will never be matched for rock ( in this case, soft rock) greatness. I was just a small child then, but have grown to realize those were the best days and hours of music. No matter how you feel, I bet you turn this song up when you hear it. For those just hearing it because of John Wick 4, I urge you to explore more 70's music.
