The soulful and unforgettable performance by the great Terry Kath, one of the best rock guitarists ever lived and original member of the mighty CHICAGO.
Miss you, Terry (1946-1978).

The night this episode of Miami Vice aired, I sobbed like a baby during this song. I still do. Every. Single. Time. One couldn't have asked for a better ending for the greatest show in television history. The flashbacks set to this song... breathtaking and sublime. And so sad to see it end. This show was the reason I became a cop. This show was the reason I wore the original Sonny Crockett shoulder holster when I was a Detective. This show was the reason I considered a career in Southern law enforcement. This show was the reason I survived my childhood. And I mean that in every sense of the word. So very happy I found this video so that I could finally get this song. Thank you for posting it.

They would've been my first concert, too, but I had to sell my ticket and go with family on vacation out of state. Chicago played my high school in CT near the end of my freshman year, April 1970. Must've been loud in the gymnasium, where they could fit a lot more people than in our auditorium, and with worse acoustics. Still would've liked to see them when "Chicago" (II) was a hot new double lp... I didn't know about Tanglewood yet, they played there that summer. Check out the Bill Graham Prroductions VIDEO of it on here on YT if you haven't already. Terry is on fire.... 🎸🎹🎺🎷🎤🥁

I saw a lot of great guitar players in my life and I heard a lot more plus all those who do not have a name and are real great players, and Terry was on par with the best of them. I saw Chicago for the first time in Montreal in 1971 . They played their first and second album on that night, and after that I became a guitar player myself .He was one of the greatest . In all those years after that show I had to pickup solos from different guitar players, but picking up solos from Terry Kath was always a bit more difficult . He had energy and stamina to a level few players could reach. Than you Terry Kath, may you rest in peace.

This song touches the depth of my soul. Terry Kath such a special spirit and a wonderous comet that passed thru the universe so quickly and left us far too soon. That end scene of "Electra Glide in Blue" where Terry plays the shooter and then have him sing the final song is just magic. Alot of credit to James William Guercio for constructing all of that movie and soundtrack-which I consider one of the finest ever in movie history. God Bless America and God Bless Terry Kath!

@@billrichardson2567 Guercio had never directed either, though -- and after this film, he never directed again. Steve McQueen even fired Guercio from the production of "Tom Horn" because he was not impressed by Guercio's lack of ideas. I actually think the reason why Electra Glide in Blue holds up pretty well today is because Guercio was also the producer and therefore he managed to assemble all the right talent together to ensure that the film was of an unusual high quality. One could alternatively even suggest that the film directed itself. I recommend Blake's memoir Tales of A Rascal for some wild insights into what allegedly really happened during the film's production.

I never saw Chicago with Terry Kath. But, being a Chicago fan, I've heard all of his work and, I really think he was the best guitarist of his day. Innovative, raw, and a true talent that was taken way to early. Most of his solos were improvised but, you'd never know it. And, whats most amazing is that was self taught. And, a tremendous bass player also.

I need to say this...I believe Terry Kath would still be alive if he would have left Chicago in the mid 70s! Before they started leaning towards that Peter Cetera ballad era. He needed to leave & start another band with guitar, bass, drums & maybe a piano/organ & get back to his rockin blues! With his vocals & guitar leading the way! What a sad & tragic end to one of the greats & one my favorites!!!

Terry Kath was on a destructive path that only he could have prevented. The drugs were out of control. He was the heart and soul of the band. Chicago went soft after Terry's death and were not the same without Terry's soulful voice and explosive guitar. Terry is not credited for being one of the best guitar players in Rock n Roll history . Sadly his early death and the spotlight on the horn section contributed to this.

Dude had a strong Bob Seger/Joe Cocker vibe. Great song. Remember it from the Miami Vice finale and then recently watched Electra Glide In Blue

This song is classic and sadly under-appreciated. I thought the movie was pretty damned good as well. And largely forgotten. Shame.

Jimi Hendrix saw Kath play the six string and said he thought he played better than him. That’s the highest compliment one can give!! We lost an amazing artist. Rest in heavenly peace
