I had to laugh when I heard "I'm in stores and I hear 'Mom' and I'm turning around"...LOL. I'm a grandma several times over now and I still jump when I hear 'Mom' in stores. However, the biggest laugh I ever got was when my oldest was a toddler. He was acting like a putz in the shop and I said, sharply, "MICHAEL!" He froze--and so did an elderly gentleman nearby. It turns out his name was Michael, too, and for a few seconds, he froze in place because he "heard" his mother's voice in mine while I was taking my own son to task.

Dashie07 This delicious caramel is what is used at Downtown Disney and Disneyland/California Adventure in Anaheim inside Marceline's Confectionary and at the candy stores inside the parks! Great quality and the best caramel for dipped apples too!

How is caramel made?

Caramel is made by first caramelizing sugar by cooking it with a small amount of water until it is almost burned, then adding cream and butter and cooking down until it is the right temperature (which means it has the right sugar : water ratio), then pouring it and letting it cool. Newer caramel recipes use somewhat different ingredients, like corn syrup for the sweetener. It's also possible to use coconut cream instead of cream/butter. But old fashioned rich creamy chewy caramel comes from sugar, cream, and butter.
