WEEKEND WOGAN 10th ANNIVERSARY SERIES - Show 30/35
11.21am, live on BBC Radio 2 on Sunday, 14 November 2010… my little chat on-air with Sir Terry Wogan as he hosts the annual 'Money Can’t Buy Auction’ in aid of BBC Children In Need.
This week we had a week off from doing the live show to make way for Terry's very special, mighty fundraising campaign where listeners could bid on incredible, unique and once-in-a-lifetime prizes. Every year, on this Sunday, Terry and his Radio 2 team would raise HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of £££’s in ONE MORNING in aid of the BBC’s Children In Need charity.
I was truly honoured to have been ‘given away’ as a prize this year in the sense that listeners were given the opportunity to bid for the chance to come and perform live with me and my band on a future ‘Weekend Wogan’ show. I was doubly honoured that Terry invited me to chat about it with him on-air during the auction, with the brief that I should sell the prize as much as possible.
I had many lovely private conversations with Terry, throughout the years that I was privileged enough to know him, however, this is the only time one of our exchanges was captured publicly.
