I love how effortlessly you guys cycle and how you seem to find gaps through pedestrians and crossing traffic. Literally leaves me speechless
@mzkabn
@mzkabn 4 жыл бұрын
some of those are not gaps between pedestrians, they are said pedestrians' personal space. some gaps only stay wide enough because the pedestrians yield. I cycle in simlar environments myself and I find this conduct towards people on foot unworthy of what the bicycle stands for.

Cool to see NY from the bike, the clicking is too much for such a long video, the bike handling is fantastic, the camera really struggled in lower light, amazed at the tight squeezes between cars, seems kind of dickish weaving towards and buzzing peds. Overall, thumbs up.

The camera struggles in low light because Terry locks the exposure (maybe it was between 100 and 200 ISO)) for the brightest scenes and it unfortunately leads to some poor quality footage in lowlight. When action cameras develop the dynamic range of a Super 35mm sensor or larger, that problem can be fixed in post.

cooper is the definition of remaining relaxed and thereby focused when cycinling on citystreets. his way of holding a certain safedistance to each obstacle he passes or the way he's automatically implementing those wide curves, doesn't matter where, to get a better angle for his next turn, or a guy on a bike is riding towards him on a oneman-narrow gap, but instead of paniking and being confused cooper remains relaxed, also shows that and keeps on riding strictly at one side - it doesnt matter tbh, overall grandmaster of urbanbikeriding, best inspiration/urbancycling-rolemodel out for everybody who loves doing that. perfectly summarized by cooper himself at 06:04 ;)

Dude, hear me out. This video looks greenscreened. Check the uneven lighting on the subject at 9:22! His back seems to constantly have light on it yet he is in shadow. Other things stick out too - how did he have such a relaxing, perfect flow when everything was so busy. Then another, and I believe most egregious act was when the tour guide said "So here we are at the Stock Exchange" at 21:19 as you pass. It's impossible how a single unscripted shot is this perfect, so I instead believe that this was a greenscreened video where the entire world has been animated into existence around the rider and his bike.

I realize this video is 3 years old, and I'm sure this will be an unpopular opinion. But this is one of the most irresponsible videos I've ever seen. The reason no one teaches this 'style' is because they wouldn't want to be held legally liable for the inevitable accidents that would result. Dozens of people could've been seriously injured during the filming of this video. I have a relative who had years taken from her life because of a stupid biker, so I know the serious consequences of such stupid behavior. If you want to risk your own life against cars, fine. But don't endanger pedestrians who might not be able to anticipate the highly erratic moves of 2 remarkably stupid (but lucky) bikers. IF YOU HAVE AN OUNCE OF CONCERN FOR YOUR POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS, SHOW THEM HOW TO RIDE CAREFULLY SO EVERYONE (BIKERS, PEDESTRIANS AND DRIVERS) CAN GET HOME SAFE!

As someone who drives everyday in various boroughs, I can say this is a very dangerous bicyclist to a driver. Thankfully I am a good defensive driver, so it’s worked out where no accidents with bicyclist. But I must say, it is very annoying and disrespectful to drivers when people ride like this! Also, not every driver, nor bicyclist, is a good defensive driver/rider, so this is why accidents happen often!!

I love cycling. But, this video only underlines the casual nature at which cyclists won’t follow the rules of the road. I know the excuse is that it’s The City, and this is how one rides in order to survive. I’ve been a road warrior myself here in LA. But I’ve learned it’s so important to be the standard set for other riders. Stopping at red lightsaber. Calling out “on your left”. And never enter opposing traffic. I’m glad you guys can share your experience riding in tight spaces: but I think your riding is reckless.

I think the bike is not allowed to ratcheting or free spinning (the cranks must keep spinning if the rear wheel is spinning). that's how he can slow down by just changing the cadence. however, mounting the bike tells a different story. I think it's not completely prohibited from free spinning as you can see the bike decelerated aggressively when he start the first stroke and has to hold down left crank position till he gets on it with his other foot
