Another great video terry, I used to live on Jones between eddy and Ellis right when you were talking about drugs and people losing their minds, used to visit Chico’s pizza at least twice a week, not the best but in the hood. Every street you rode brings back nostalgia, I’ll probably never set foot in San Francisco again tho. Ride safe bro!

Neat ride. Surprised by two things - how flat much of this route was, and how some of those roads seemed in rough shape compared to BK. The footage on the 10 looks nice, colours are lush. Seems like a larger dynamic range, or maybe it is just better at autoexposure - more detail in the bright sky, less blown out highlights, if any.

Welcome to California! I live here and wouldn’t wanna ride in that city. Might get a fly in your mouth that just left a pile of human 💩 in the streets…. It’s a shame because SF once was a beautiful city 🏙

Dude. The roads here are awful. I love whipping around on smaller knobbies (700x38) mostly for comfort/safety. I rode bikes with road slicks for years here and idk how tf I did it.

"we actually have some new york-like traffic here" the tenderloin has a similar population density to parts of Manhattan. And then you also have traffic headed towards union square/the financial district. So it makes sense I guess.

San Francisco is not the SF of the 1960s. But nice ride. The Tenderloin is pretty safe, but you have to be careful because it can change from block to block.

I'm confused. How does he just ride through the red street lights?
@elsofaraway3 жыл бұрын
I work in this area and bike commute. It’s easy to run reds because pedestrians don’t care and constantly cross on red stopping traffic and giving cyclist time to get through. I’d be more worried about a person jaywalking infront of you then the traffic going up the streets.
@SultanMenzuma3 жыл бұрын
In some/most parts of the video, the lights are red for both the perpendicular street and the street he’s facing. This is usually done to let pedestrians walk on all sides. So you just have to look out for pedestrians.

The reason people say that the tenderloin is "sketchy," is because it is. Clearly it has a a lot of poverty, homeless people, drug use, but there's also a lot of people selling drugs, there's a high robbery rate, and no shortage of violence (often connected to the drug trade or gangs or whatever), including regular shootings. Not everyone is "harmless" as you put it lol. It definitely qualifies as sketchy, by American standards. The Tenderloin is unique compared to many other sketchy areas in other places, in that it's downtown and surrounded by wealthier areas and the city's financial/shopping/main tourist district, so in addition to the sketchy shit, there's also lots of people simply passing through the area, or going to a trendy restaurant, or their cheap hotel, or riding their bike through and making youtube videos.
@nonameking48743 жыл бұрын
As someone born and raised in the bay area, this is one of the best comment I've seen. You nailed it.

I feel like the main issue with this new bike lane is that people are fucking stupid. In 5 minutes, you can see a car riding backwards on the bike lane, cars parked on the bike lane pretty much every 20 meters, a bike take the lane in the wrong direction, pedestrians walking on it, and even a fucking police car parked there. Keep riding in the trafic, you're way safer there.
@xjuanx923 жыл бұрын
I love how you ride like a New Yorker in SF. Native from Brooklyn I do the same, but usually get stink eyed, or verbally assaulted by the biking police on red lights and being too close to cars. I usually laugh out loud back.
