Very informative Terry, Thank you. Is it easy change the person you have appointed? Or it’s it a case of starting over again? Say they pass away or you fall out with them. Also would you consider doing a video some time on the law around trusts in Ireland please.

Thank you for another interesting video. About 10 years ago my wife and I set up enduring power of attorney for our selves I forget what it cost but it was expensive. Our solicitor retired and our new one took it over. I feel it was money well spent. I know solicitors make mistakes but to set up something like this without guidance would be crazy.

Does power of attorney cease at the momentent of death? I am aware of a case of an intestate estate where no grant of administration has been sought but the deceased's brother - who did not reside with the deceased - has claimed to have power of attorney and has removed farm stock and has since benefited from the sale of the produce. I believe that he might qualify for a grant of administration if he applied but his motivation in failing to apply is to avoid inheritance tax and eventually gain control of the holding through a squatters title. It's 5 years since the date of death and no contact has been made with the Probate Office.

@terrygorry Thanks, that's what I thought myself and in this particular case there was never power of attorney during life either as the lady who passed away had full mental faculties & awareness, it's just that she died unexpectedly having neglected to make a will.

Sounds like our EPA Safeguards are sufficiently robust & watertight/loophole-free to *safely* accomodate Lawful Medically-Assisted *"Death with Dignity"* 🤷‍♀️ ..without risk of coerced "assisted" suicide, financial-burden-induced suicide, without risk of murder and/or murder made to look like suicide or *premature* 'death with dignity' fudged and made to appear like lawful & timely 'death with dignity' etcetera.
