It's lasted well and other than a new bit of netting has done well for me. Happy gardening, Terry King.

Thankyou Alex, try not to have wood in the ground or leave room for some concrete godfather posts when they go rotten. Haven't had to anything else to it since then, the only thing I would change is to pay out for a full fish pond netting all over. All the best. 🌱Happy Gardening my friend, Terry.

I wouldn't say it was a mistake using that cheap netting. Cheap is great for learning, imagine if you weren't so handy and made a cage with the expensive netting and it blew down ripping it all up? Or maybe you find allotmenting isn't for you. Also, for getting it done quickly with limited funds. Cheap can always be upgraded as and when funds become available. Your cage looks fab! And the good stuff does look a lot more substantial. All the best. Poo

I think I spent about £40 on the quality netting and one more with finish the rest when it becomes unrepairable. Very wise words thankyou my friend. 😆 Happy growing Terry

Nice job mate 👍 I got some of that netting that you have on the roof. What is the mesh size? Does it feel like a very soft rope? I had mine over my brassicas last year but a few cabbage whites still got through. I'm attempting to get it over my cherry tree this year! Cheers.......Nigel

Hello Nigel, the netting is 1 inch as you discribed it is ideal to keep out the birds 10mtrs × 6mtrs £40, pond netting. Thankyou for commenting. Happy growing Terry

Nice fruit cage Terry, I'm just planning mine in readiness for next year what size timber did you use for the uprights and have you dug them into the ground or used post spikes. Thanks!

B&Q 2x1 quite cheep and will require treatment, 3x3 fence post for the main corners in metal sockets and a spike all found put out for the scrap men, bolted onto paving slabs. Roofing lathes to support the net. I will recommend pond netting to cover as it pays off paying the money in the long run. Silly me tryed using pea netting and the birds fly right through it.....lol. If the birds find the smallest hole on the ground they will continuously use it and it took me weeks to find where they were getting in. 🌱Happy Gardening my friend, Terry.
