How is this the only video or reference of this problem anywhere online…. Yet I’m 99% sure I have this problem. My pin won’t retract all the way, and if I manually pull the release, it then struggles to relocate again. I have tried lubricating the pin and that frees it up for a little bit…. Like a day but it begins sticking again. Knowing exactly which washer to use would be helpful, otherwise I have to disassemble it just to figure it out, and then hope I can find it.

I ended up paying Tesla to replace mine, which was expensive, but it was because my port was badly worn and they wouldn’t tell me it any other way. I’m going g to refurbish the part

First, loving this kind of content. Great for the Tesla community. I watched your other video but I'm not clear on the problem. Was the car getting the lock stuck in the up or down position? What was the error message the car was throwing? Would be helpful to know what you were experiencing for others to help them self diagnose. Thanks!

Thanks for watching! The only error I was receiving was that my charge port latch is frozen on my tesla app. The latch was stuck in the up position, so I had to manually unlock the port every time. The problem was that the rubber o-ring inside the latch mechanism was warned out. The o-ring was building up friction on the inner walls, preventing the shaft from moving down. These o-rings brand new are firmer. Sometimes, tesla also does not provide enough grease on these parts as well, which can be another issue.

Whats the job of that O-ring when it is working? Stopping water that gets into the port from creeping further in?

I'm glad it helped. I'm not sure what size the O-ring is, but it might be metric.

have had same issue with latching 2019 sr what i did find is taking a hair dryer inside the trunk for a few minutes and it has worked so not sure if it would be the o ring for my case

its a nuisance as you never know if it will latch at the supercharger tesla needs to fix this issue as its there software preventing the pin from latching when it hits a certain temperature

@Juls_esp This is more of a mechanical issue than a software issue. If the latch is struggling to move, that is when you get the fault message on your phone. I agree though, something Tesla needs to improve on.
