Taking time to get the door aligned so that it doesn't rub on anything is important. I had to do some filing on the mounting holes to have a enough adjustment range or it would have rubbed on the body when closed. On the Model S every cars body has slight variations when they are assembled so no two are alike. Just something to keep in mind.

The paper in the hole is probably to try to prevent loosened fasteners from accidentally falling into the gap between inner and outer body panels. This isn't his first time doing this job, and I'll wager he learned this lesson the hard way.

Tesla literally quoted me $1400 for this error code. Really irritating. Thanks for the video!!!!! Now I need to find an assembly.

I am having the same issue with my 2014 S. I can hear it trying to close but the door is lieterally broke ( I think)... Wish there was a local tesla mechanic who I can pay without taking it to Tesla...

my door opens and closes fine through app and key fob, but the car thinks the port door is always open. Don't think I need to replace the door, any ideas on how to make car think door is closed?

I just replaced the charge port on my 2015 MS. Everything went smooth. Closed my trunk. Now the open button will not open the trunk. The touch screen button to open the trunk just does the animation, then shows the trunk close. Any software update required after the fix? So weird that one now works, then the other fails to function?

Not sure about yours, but I had to manually close my trunk before it would open and close automatically.

So it doesn't require any software changes or updates to function? A lot of Tesla parts seem to be physically replaceable by owners, but then they don't work until Tesla does some kind of update or sync that only they can do... Looks like this part swap "just works"?

@@amberjackson1913 FYI - ordered the door part from my Tesla Service Center (came to just under $100) and replaced it myself. No issues, it really does "just work". Followed this video and it went very smoothly!

If you read the directions in the Tesla Service Manual, it does say to run "PROC_CP_X_DOOR-SENSOR-CALIBRATION" with the Tesla Toolbox 3. I did this repair on my 2015 Model S85D and the door broke within 2 weeks. The plastic part where the gear broke into pieces. 😞I am looking for someone (SolCal) with Toolbox 3 subscription to do a calibration. I am wondering if the people who did this repair ended up with the same fate? Thank you.
