Tesla FSD 12.5.1 | Smooth as butter!

I woke up to the new FSD v12.5.1 this morning and I couldn't wait to test it out. And like the nerd I am, took a nice little test drive and could definitely notice the difference in stop and go traffic, taking un protected turns, and departing with FSD engaged straight out of parking lots.
Of course it is not perfect, but in just the past 2 months this car's software has improved drastically since day one.

Blame NHTSA for full 0 mph stop. FSD 10 didn't stop 0 mph. Then NHTSA required Tesla FSD to follow the full-stop sign rule.

ive used fsd since 12.3.6 and now 12.5.1 , the worst experience i have is probably random breaking/slowing down when there is a car/trailer right next to me. im not sure why it does that but it happened few times so far. The next worst experience is that some wonky navigation/fsd, it would exit from a freeway and then get on the same (direction) freeway ramp again without just going straight down the freeway without exit. and the last would be, the slowness during 4 way stops when there are absolutely no cars too.

12.5.1 does not do the California roll at stop signs. I admit it is too slow at stop signs so when I am impatient I just tap the accelerator to proceed quicker. I am so impressed with 12.5.1.

Ohh man being able to nap in traffic would be ideal for me as well. Slow moving traffic is so tiring and we have to deal with it everyday. Napping 45-60 mins and arriving at your destination full of energy.

2:00 The visualization has nothing to do with the behavior of the car. It might give a hint at what the car is seeing, but it's seeing a lot more than what is being visualized.

There needs to be a way to fine tune the cars location. My property is a total of 3 lots with a primary address, which I am using, but the car pulls into my neighbors driveway and not mine. There needs to be a way to fix this.

We're supposed to stop at stop signs in Ireland 🇮🇪 too, but at many minor junctions, it is clear a full stop isn't necessary. Real drivers do more of a rolling stop without reaching zero velocity. One wouldn't do it on the driving test.

In the USA several "rules" are just treated as guidelines. Generally you can speed 10-15% above the speed limit, come down to like 5mph at a stop sign, pass cars even if it means going over double yellow. Coming to a full stop at a stop sign is way more dangerous than slowing down to ~5mph. It's a good way to get rear-ended and doesnt help prevent a crash.

@@chadsway88 Yes - I just did a 1100 mile trip with the 12.5.1 - the nags are mostly a thing of the past. Sometimes it forgets to not be naggy and goes back into constant nag mode. The only fix seems to be is to stop the car, put in park, get out and back in and go on your way. I didn't get a strike, it just got quirky.

It had no ability to really grasp the context of its environment, so it was risky to use it in nearly every situation, be it near curbs, cars, walls, or any other obstacle. It struggled even in completely empty parking lots, and would often stop far enough away from you where you would still have to walk over to the car

A 12.5.x update will allow you to wear sunglasses. How they are going to do that is beyond me. How are they going to know that you are in fact looking straight ahead? Or that you have closed your eyes? And you can still wear sunglasses now, you would just get the nag. But there is no nag if you apply some resistance to the steering wheel while FSD is engaged, which to me makes sense as you are supposed to be ready to take over. Having your hand on the wheel seems like it would be allow faster take over than with hand off the wheel. Lastly, you also can just scroll the left scroll wheel down a a click or up a click to make the nag go away. Prior to 12.5 that's what I did for the most part. And the occasional nag and scroll wheel click was well worth the ability for me to sit back and watch the car drive itself:)!

Also Tesla themselves dont care if you wear sunglasses it's just regulators that hate Tesla and want to make it as inconvenient as possible to use FSD because the legacy automakers pay tons of money for favorable laws.
