@DavidSaintlothКүн бұрын
FYI, the planned grid only exists north of Houston Street. South of that is pure chaos as many of those roads were predated by Indian trails from before the Dutch first settled the island in the 1600's. I can attest to having driven on those roads the chaos never ends, I'm stunned that FSD figured out every single scenario thrown its way.

Battery garage is a great stress test for FSD parking, you should keep testing new versions here. If it can handle that, it can handle any garage. They have an automatic plate reader to get in and out, so it could probably enter and exit on its own eventually. That would be a godsend if you live/work in FiDi since it’s the only public garage around. Also, that ramp of doom stresses me out every time I drive up or down it in my Model X
@StevenRenStimpyКүн бұрын
Another interesting test scenario nearby is navigating to Rector St while going southbound on West St. Probably one of the most insane sections of manhattan during rush hour. FSD version 12.5 (HW3) always makes a mistake here and doesn’t merge right fast enough to avoid being forced to take either the FDR exit or the tunnel exit - very bad. FSD has also had issues in tunnels like the Battery tunnel. The tight lanes and vertical lane dividers spook the car into going super slow. On past versions, it has even tried to merge into oncoming traffic by driving over the dividers. Tunnels also mess up the GPS causing FSD to get lost.

I owned a Tesla Model 3 Performance from 2020 to 2022. My Tesla had FSD Beta from its initial launch until I sold my Tesla to buy a Corvette. Last month, I sold my Corvette and bought a 2024 Model 3 Performance with the expectation that FSD had advanced significantly since I sold my Tesla in September 2022, but FSD 12.5 was a mixed bag. There were definitely improvements over whatever version of FSD I had in 2022, but not the massive improvements I expected after 2 years of updates. With 12.5, I still couldn’t drive more than 10 miles, on average, without having to intervene to avoid a major incident. A few days ago, I got 13.2.2 and it’s amazing. For the first time, FSD drove me 45 minutes to work and 45 minutes back home without a single intervention. I honestly think FSD is less than a year away from being able to drive unsupervised. It’s not quite there yet. At this point, I still wouldn’t be able to sleep without worrying, but it’s getting very cold to that point. One critique I have is with Hurry mode. It has a bad tendency to wait until the last minute to get in the correct lane to make a turn or exit a highway. When there is lots of traffic, waiting until the last minute to get in the correct lane often creates a situation where FSD has to quickly and unsafely cuts in front of another car, or it has to wait, stopped in the wrong, until it get over into the correct lane, otherwise it would miss the exit or turn.
